ExploreAFoot Opens First Season:
New Service to Help Visitors Explore the Cuyahoga Valley National Park

The Cuyahoga Valley National Park is full of natural beauty, quaint villages and rich cultural
experiences. Now, ExploreAFoot will help hikers and cyclists discover it all. ExploreAFoot offers
customized routes, and suggestions for lodging and places to eat and drink along the Ohio and
Erie Canal Towpath trail. Options are available for individuals or groups looking for multi-day
adventures.

Those wishing to walk or cycle from Cleveland to Zoar can do so by following the towpath, in
and out of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Your accommodation is booked and luggage is
transported to the next destination - ideal for locals who want to experience a “staycation”
close to home, and for those outside the area who wish to experience spring, summer, or fall in
a national park. Travelers on a shoestring budget can take advantage of more economical day
trips or available hostels, while more luxurious options are also available in local B&Bs and lofts
along the towpath.

Explore-A-Foot is now “open for business”, with trails and accommodation open to hikes and
bikers. Routes ranging from one to three days are carefully designed for each explorer’s needs
with maps that can be accessed on a smartphone.

About ExploreAFoot:

ExploreAFoot was created in response to a Knight Cities Challenge grant. Brian and Tracy Davis
submitted the idea to the 2016 Knight Cities Competition because they felt that Ohio’s only
national park makes an ideal setting for multi-day hikes and bike trips. The region boasts a
scenic railroad, a historic towpath and villages dotted throughout the park. After experiencing
walking holidays in Germany and France, the Davis’s saw the potential for similar outdoor
experiences in Northeast Ohio.
