Advocating for equalizing education for both genders is a crucial step towards achieving gender equality. Here are 2 points we might consider when discussing this:

Here’s something they don’t tell you when you become a traveller…
Challenges are the universe's way of testing your mettle. They force you to step outside your comfort zone, to adapt, to grow. Remember the time when you thought you couldn't possibly get through a week without your favorite comfort food from back home? Well, look at you now, whipping up a storm in the kitchen with exotic local ingredients!
The trick to coping with challenges abroad is to embrace them, not dread them. Remember, every misstep is an opportunity to learn, every hurdle a chance to grow, and every setback a story in the making.
And, when all is said and done, these stories will be the ones you tell with a twinkle in your eye and a sense of pride in your heart.
So, as you set forth on your teaching journey, remember to pack a good measure of patience, a dash of humor, and a large dose of resilience. And don't forget to leave a little room in your suitcase for the unexpected.

Nooo. It’s not meant to be this way!
So, you've decided to spread your wings, pack your bags, and head off to a new country to teach English.
And as thrilling as this adventure is, it's also guaranteed to serve you a platter full of surprises – and not all of them will be as laid-back as enjoying the local cuisine or the charming cityscapes.
There will be times when things won't go as planned. Maybe your luggage decides to embark on its own separate journey and ends up in another country. Perhaps the local dialect proves to be as hard to crack as the Da Vinci Code. Or maybe, just maybe, your apartment isn’t exactly the spacious, sunlit haven you imagined, but more of a Harry Potter's cupboard-under-the-stairs situation.
When these unanticipated hiccups occur, you have two choices. You could let these challenges steal your thunder, or you could channel your inner Indiana Jones, tackle these obstacles head-on, and come out stronger on the other side…

Actually, no. You are MORE than good enough to travel! In fact, you're uniquely suited for the adventure. Traveling is not reserved for a specific type of person or a certain level of expertise; it's for anyone with the curiosity and desire to explore. Your individuality, with all its quirks and qualities, is your greatest asset when traveling. Your ability to adapt, learn, and connect with others makes you perfectly capable of navigating new places and cultures.

Doing this one thing improved my life!
The importance of exercising the mind is often overshadowed by the emphasis on physical fitness. Just as we work out our bodies, our brains also require regular workouts to stay in peak condition… but I get it, you know. Who has time? Where do we start?
Well, learning a new language, adapting to a foreign culture, and navigating unfamiliar environments create new neural pathways in the brain, keeping it active and agile.
A renowned psychologist, Susan Pinker, shared a case study of an English teacher who experienced cognitive improvement while teaching abroad. If the idea of exercising your mind through cultural immersion and making a difference appeals to you, then teaching English abroad is an ideal opportunity to combine personal growth with meaningful experiences. It’s a myth that you’re not good enough.

It’s not all sunshine and roses…
We all know that traveling abroad is an incredible experience, but it also comes with its realities and challenges. Here are five big reminders I have to consciously make myself aware of:
1. It's Not Always Glamorous
2. Lonelines
3. Budgeting

5. Unpredictability:
Despite these challenges, the truth about traveling abroad is that it's a rewarding and educational experience. It broadens your horizons, exposes you to new cultures, and allows you to create memories that last a lifetime. The key is to approach travel with an open mind and a willingness to embrace both the highs and lows that come with it.

This is what keeps me up at night?
When I first considered traveling abroad, I remember spending many sleepless nights worrying about what could go wrong. Am I good enough? Do I have what it takes? Could I fit in with those travel influencers I’ve seen so much of online? But after a lot of research and a ton of pep-talks, I soon realized…
That exploring the world is a personal journey, and there's no one-size-fits-all approach. Adventures can be adapted to your interests, preferences and comfort level pushing you just enough to learn. Beauty is diverse and the world has an infinite palette if paint colours…

Mistakes I made when I made mistakes…
I used to be incredibly hard on myself whenever I made mistakes. It felt like a personal failing, and I often dwelled on the error, replaying it in my mind repeatedly. Whether I had jumped on the wrong train, pronounced something incorrectly at a restaurant and wasn’t understood or simply bought the wrong thing at the store.
The self-criticism could be relentless, and it took a toll on my self-esteem. However, with time and self-reflection, I've come to understand that making mistakes is a natural part of life. It doesn't define my worth or capabilities. Instead, each mistake is an opportunity for growth and learning. I've learned to be more compassionate towards myself, realizing that it's okay to stumble and that the key is to learn from those stumbles and keep moving forward… mistakes are part of the journey.

Everything changed once I figured this out…
Have you ever heard of the term "Ikigai?" This beautiful concept originates from Japan, specifically from the island of Okinawa, known for its abundance of individuals who live past the age of 100.
Ikigai is seen as the convergence of four primary elements: what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. It's the very essence of finding joy, fulfillment, and balance in life, and the motivating force that makes you jump out of bed each morning.
Without even realizing it, teaching abroad gives me a similar sense of Ikigai. My passion for imparting knowledge, honing my English language skills, recognizing the global demand for education, and the chance to make a living while doing what I adore all converge to create a profound sense of purpose in my life… It all makes sense now.
