Hello All,

I wanted to break the silence of the Autopista End page for a good cause. My friend Jared was hit by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle several weeks ago. He has fought his way back from the brink of death but him and his young wife could really use some support. It will be years before he can work again normally. We are getting closer to new Autopista End adventures! Today we spent 4.5 hours putting in Alex's new radiator! She even got to hop on the red b***o and take a spin around the driveway! No more leaking coolant. Woot woot!

The Empire Strikes Back! So after throwing in the (shop) towel last week with suspected petcock issues we disconnected the tank again and realized we had been too shy in putting gas back into it. Yup- sometimes all you need is more gas.

Today is day two of tank replacement. We were having some problems yesterday because the new tank is set up for California emissions and the old one was not. We should be done today!

The motorcycle adventures have been limited lately since both KLRs have a multitude of things wrong with them. Alex has been getting her two wheel fix by borrowing her mom's shadow or Nathaniel's new triumph scrambler. Today a locksmith is coming to the apartment to unlock Nathaniel's panniers so we can replace the gas tank and remove all the boxes. We hope to be back on both kawasakis soon!

I only just saw this last night. My bike after 3 months at sea when they first opened the shipping container in Los Angeles. The container apparently got REALLY hot and the decals on the right side of my bike are completely melted. We now have the bikes back and Nathaniel is writing up a 'how they got home' post. -Alex
