September 2025

The Blister Club is looking to undertake its third event of walking the length of the world famous Hadrian's Wall.

The event has been listed for September and will take place between the 20th and 27th; aiming to walk circa 15 miles per day.

The club have provisionally booked the entire hostel at Greenhead, Brampton, Cumbria and that will be our base throughout the event as it rests in very close proximity to the wall.

Deposits are urgently required in order to lock down the accommodation booking.

Planned Blister Club Events

In 2025 we have organised our first attempt to undertake the 97 mile St Oswald's Way Walk; stretching from Wall on Hadrian's Wall, to Holy Island in Northumberland.

The walk will be taking place between Saturday May 9th to 16th, and we aim to walk circa 15/17 miles per day.

Presently we have 34 walkers signed up for this trip - with just a couple of places left.

The Blister Club was founded in circa 1989 and so created an informal walking club for both serving police officers and staff, along with family members and trusted friends, as the years have rolled by the profile has changed to embrace colleagues and friends who have since retired.

The Club is free to join and asks only that those who attend the walks do so in the spirit of adventure, friendship and respect for all.

The main model of the walks organised is to rent entire properties; mainly hostels, and to thereafter walk and self cater as a group.

The Blister Club has undertaken events in all of the UK National Parks and further afield; embracing some of the Kingdom's fabulous long distance paths.

Greetings for 2022

It is fair to say that 2020 and 2021 were father dim and challenging.

Now that things are beginning to open up again I am starting to put together a list of events for this year.

Please let me know if any of these events interest you and feel free to share with others.

1. The 31st annual Lyke Wake Walk has been scheduled to take place on Saturday 22nd July, with entrants arriving at our new base - Scarborough Youth Hostel, on Friday 22nd and leaving on Sunday 23rd. I believe we can accommodate people travelling up a day early and or leaving a day later.

The walk will be west to east (Osmotherley to Ravenscar) and will be limited to no more than 35 walkers.

2. Peak District - Saturday 17th September to the following Saturday (24th). A 64 mile walk - talking in a number of scenic places and undertaking the Edale Skyline Walk as well.

The main walk covers the Peak Pilgtimage from Ilam to Eyam, visiting Bakewell and Chataworth House, along with an afternoon visiting both the Blue John Mone and Caverns in Castleton.

This walk will be limited to 24 people.

3. A further walk across the entire length of Hadrian's Wall - starting on Sunday 25th September and ending on the 2nd October.

We will have sole use of the hostel in Greenhead and use that venue our as our base at the end of each day.

We will be walking for six days (24 miles a day, with a coach dropping us off snd meeting us at the end of the daily walks.

This walk will be limited to 30 people.
