【Goodbye and Hello】

Dear all,

It's been a while since our last post. We're glad to announce that we'll soon become graduates from university. We're preparing to move on to our career and embrace the unknown future. All the members of FOReignMOSA had learned a lot through this project and made lots of friends during the interaction with people from all around the world. Thanks again to all the participants we've met.
Some of you might wonder if we're keeping on this project. Sadly, the answer is NO. Though FOReignMOSA is no longer holding activities, this fanpage will still be opened to any of you who have questions about traveling or staying in Taiwan. Also, we would see it as a platform to share more ideas about culture exchange. Hopefully, the main concept of FOReignMOSA will keep going on. :)

【PHASE 2---END】

After traveling all way round Taiwan, the phase two of our graduation project has finally come to the end. Though there's gonna be phase three, we still have time to pause and take a rest, compile the feedback and comments we've received during the traveling exhibition. Soon we'll announce the future of FOReignMOSA. STAY TUNED!

Buddy Program in Taichung

Here comes the buddies to join the travelling exhibition. Instead of checking out those tourist spots, we visited some places only the locals go. From mountains to ocean, from city to country, every steps we move on makes this travel more meaningful. We even met a lady who just started her walking tour all way round in Taiwan. Also chatted with the locals to understand more about this area. There's not only sun cake here, but more secret corners for you to discover. :)

【Buddy Program in 中壢】
Usually, FOReignMOSA plays the role to guide foreigners in Taiwan to see the local culture. Now, we're the one to be guided to somewhere unknown. As our first stop came to Taoyuan, we decided to go to Zhongli, a large district but also a place that none of us is familiar with. Everything here seems fresh and interesting. Different from Taipei, it looks more industrial and simple. Lots of foreign workers from Southeast Asia hang out around the train station. Crowded roads and neglected traffic rules make our nerves tightened. But we do experience something amazing. Zhongli may not be the top choice on your traveling list, but it indeed is a city that can show you the Taiwanese lifestyle.

Here we are at the lovely city TAICHUNG!! Compared with the crowds in Taipei. You can describe here as "spacious". The atmosphere, the food, the traffic and everything are just so special and different with other cities. Oh and we're holding the BUS MONOPOLY tomorrow!!!

Nice to conquer the challenge with so many new friends. We've biked with mountains and river. With the breeze in the air, we're somehow released from the everyday routine. Have a good rest and good night!

【First Stop---Taoyuan】

Tomorrow!!! the crew, the team, the whole class will be heading to our first stop, Taoyuan. It's fascinating that the day has finally come. Months and weeks of preparation, just wanna let the others to know what we're promoting.

【Another up coming...】
Have you heard of BRT(Bus Rapid Transit)? It was to improve the transportation in Taichung. Though it's canceled now, but the route is still there. Why not turn it into a map as a convenient way to explore Taichung? After the Taipei MRT Monopoly, FOReignMOSA's second edition---Taichung BUS Monopoly!!! There'll be missions and points designed as the rule for each team to complete. And a big prize for the winners~~~~~ Sounds interesting? Join us now!!

Q: Who are we looking for?
-Foreigners in Taiwan / People who speak English / People who care about Taiwan and want to explore more!

Q: What are we going to do?
-We're traveling to four cities, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan, Taitung. Not only sightseeing, but also try to blend in with the locals. We'll discuss the schedule together once you sign up. :)

【OPEN CALL】

Finally!! It's the time to disclose our future event!! This time it's more complicated, so listen carefully~~
We're going to travel AROUND Taiwan!! yup, all~ way~ around!
To be frank, we gonna stay at FOUR cities. Instead of one day tour, we decide to explore the local culture deeply and closely. Within two weeks, mission will be completed. Check out the schedule below:

Apr. 22 - Apr. 25 Taoyuan 桃園
Apr. 25 - Apr. 28 Taichung 台中
Apr. 28 - May 1 Tainan 台南
May 1 - May 4 Taitung 台東

We hope to have you with us during the exploration. We also understand there will be problems being away from work or school for such a long time. So it's possible if you only join some part of the tour. Transportation and lodging are all negotiable.

***FOReignMOSA will play as the role of your companion rather than an event organizer. We see ourselves as outsiders of these cities, so we're hoping to have more discussion and surprises with you.

Happy Lantern Festival!! 元宵節快樂!!!

See any lanterns yet? or have any 元宵 for dessert? What flavor did you eat?? By the way, the school starts within the happy festival atmosphere. FOReignMOSA will soon post on our future plans. It's gonna be bigger and more exciting than usual. Hint: not in Taipei. :P

Reviews from Hong Kong trip

This is my first time in Hong Kong. The street scene is different to Taiwan although there are full of Traditional Chinese characters. There are many tall building that make me stifling but I love colorful surface of it. They look like toy stacking blocks. Piling up makes the building taller and taller. Shop sign are also assembled piecemeal in an upright position. Even buses and trams have two layers. I think that is charming. During the trip of Hong Kong, I live a fast-paced life. People walk with good speed. Escalators of MTR are really fast too. Drivers of bus and taxi drive so fast that I can’t enjoy the scenery. On the whole, trams are my favorite transport. You can seat with ventilated car and enjoy street scenes. Walking on the street is the best way to visit the city, but there are many slopes in Hong Kong. No matter what kind of way I explore the city. These are interesting experience for me.

Reviews and thoughts from Hong Kong Trip

During our visit in the "Make a Difference" event, we've met youngsters like us from other Asian cities. I've met a Chinese boy asking my opinion of Taiwan and China sensitive political issues. We discussed a little bit about it and share our thoughts together. We saw the culture difference and found out the politicians act differently in each other's hometown. And our conclusion is that the culture plays an important role of how special and unique we are. It's also a kind of identification of who you are and where you belong. There's no definite answer due to the history that we couldn't change. Somehow we couldn't choose where we were born, but we can cherish what we have. We figured that no matter who's the leader, life still goes on anyway. All we can do is to learn more and embrace the culture difference. With knowledge and experience, we'll cross the barrier someday. :)

Besides, the umbrella movement in Hong Kong last year was also questioned during the event. What the media said and the fact weren't always the same, which arouse some discussion. The atmosphere was interesting and a bit intense. But it's nice to see the interaction between young people from different backgrounds and we're exchanging the ideas. Small changes start from the little things, even from a talk. Citizen action is the main concept I received during the event, inspiring and motivating.
