If you love leaving the car in the drive on holiday the village offers a couple of pubs, a local shop, and a fish and chip shop. And if you're a bit of a foodie there are several excellent gastropubs in the area. The cottage is just a few miles away from the pretty market town of Northallerton where handsome Georgian houses line the long main street. It is also home to a very good sample of restaurants, cafes, and independent shops. Richmond is a historic market town with much to offer the discerning holiday-maker, is also just a few miles away. Explore the cobbled market square or head up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. Just a short drive through Richmond takes you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales proper. Head up towards Reeth and on towards Hawes in Wensleydale for a true taste of this magnificent countryside. Pop into the Wensleydale Creamery at Hawes and sample some of this famous Yorkshire cheese.
