Have you ever visited a Christkindlmarkt? Or Christmas market? Here where I live, we have a great one. In fact, it’s been rated the best Christkindlmarkt in the US several years in a row now. Finally was able to visit it today and we had a great time! Checking out the amazing craftsmanship of many items, picking up some candied almonds and cashews, and taking it all in. They have all the traditional Christkindlmarkt foods as well like raclette and wurst. We even walked down the nearby walking trail and had some amazing nachos! Highly recommend! Traveling doesn’t always have to be extensive, but instead a way to make memories! We have some great places to visit here in Indy, you can take in our Christkindlmarkt and even head up the road to Chicago and take in theirs as well. Tons of Christmas fun! Day 3 and our last day of exploring! Did as much as we could with the time we had left. Started the day with our reserved time at the Air and Space Museum. We saw Neil Armstrong’s space suit that walked on the moon, Apollo 11 capsule, the Spirit of St Louis, the original Wright Flyer and more. We the headed over to the National Gallery of Art and saw art by so many famous artists, like DaVinci, Po***ck and Picasso (in the pics), but also Matisse, Kandinsky, Andy Warhol and others. The most amazing part of everything we have seen these last few days is they are the real and actual thing, not replicas. To think you are literally looking at THE THING is amazing. We continued on to the National Archives and saw THE constitution, the Bill of Rights, THE Declaration. It was super awesome! Then we headed over to Ford’s Theatre and the room where Lincoln died, and one final daytime stop by the White House. We finished our evening getting some really good pizza from a place called We the Pizza. 😀 Perfect ending!!! Heading home in the morning!

Day 2 was packed yet again! Our feet feel like they are going to fall off! While our Disney days accumulate more steps, these steps are up and down hills. 😀 We started the day becoming a spy at the International Spy Museum. It was very interesting and we really enjoyed it. We walked over to the Smithsonian area and checked out the Museum of Natural History and saw some really awesome fossils AND the Hope Diamond! Then the museum of American History, where we saw the ORIGINAL star spangled banner (what is left of it) but no photos were allowed to be taken there. It was so cool to see and think about that flying over Fort McHenry. We also saw Abe Lincoln’s actual top hat, then the pop culture section and saw John Philip Sousa’s baton, Prince’s yellow guitar, the pocket watch from 60 minutes and the ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz. After a quick respite back at the hotel we headed out for the evening, took in the National Portrait Gallery, had dinner and then over to see the Vietnam and Korea Memorials. They have added to Korea since my last visit so that was cool to see. We walked back past the White House and then called an Uber! 😀 Whew! What a day!!

Join my family on our next journey. This time to Washington DC. My hubs and I have been here a few times but this is the first visit for our kids! We drove out yesterday and today started our adventures. We crammed a lot into this first day. We saw the space shuttle Discovery, the Concord, the Enola Gay, then over to Arlington to see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the changing of the guard, JFK’s grave, then checked into our DC hotel which is right in the thick of it all. The capital building is just about three blocks away! We walked over to Union Station to hop on our 3.5 hour guided tour where we made 16 stops to see all the monuments at night. It was awesome!! Beautiful weather, sun was shining and we are exhausted. Ready to rest up and head out for another full day tomorrow!! Come along….
