A, Bondjoû!
Captain Jason's dream is to one day retire on a catamaran in the Caribbean where he plans to take other would-be seafaring adventure-seekers on luxury cruises on the ocean (doesn't matter what ocean, any ocean will do). There, he intends to spend his days exploring the open sea (again, any sea will do) and marvel in its wonders...that and sip piña coladas from the deck. Another dream (he's quite the dreamer) was to own a Ferrari before his 40th birthday. Suffice it to say, he is rapidly approaching that golden age and no, he is not getting a Ferrari. What he was able to do was to talk his lovely wife, Heather (that's me), into a brand new 2018 Chaparral 267 SSX runabout. With his swanky new boat, Captain Jason discovered he could realize two dreams at once (sort of)! Enter "A, Bondjoû Luxury Boat Cruises".
A brief history of the name: long ago, in Belgium, the good people of the country (and the French community) spoke a now dying language known as Walloon (see flag above). Captain Jason is from the Door County, WI area where the population is heavily Belgian-American. Many of the older people speak the old language, including Jason's father, Joe Smith. Joe rather suddenly passed away 3 years ago and it is for him that we have named our website (and, incidentally, our first boat) 'A, Bondjou'. "A" (ah) meaning "hi" and "Bondjoû" (buh-joo..more or less) meaning "Good Day". Simply put, 'A, Bondjoû' means "Hi, Good Day!" and it is a common phrase used by fellow Wallonians to greet one another. Our tour boat, the "knot-a-Ferrari", (you see what I did there?) will also sport the bold "cok Walon" in the form of a sea dragon chicken (courtesy of boatletteringtoyou.com) pretending to be a Ferrari horse. Boom!
Wish us luck and Bon Voyage! (I'm pretty sure French is close enough)
