We were so engrossed in looking at rocks and visiting amazing geosites in Oman 🇴🇲 that we forgot to post photos while we were on tour - sorry! Now that the tour has finished though, we have had a chance to look back on our photos and we have chosen our 50(ish!) favourites. We hope that you enjoy them! 📸
We will be going back to Oman in 2026, but that trip is already fully booked. If you are interested in joining us in the future, please do get in touch and we can add you to the waitlist or priority booking list for the next available trip.

And we're off...! After a short winter break, we are kicking off our 2025 schedule with a return to the geological paradise which is Oman 🇴🇲 Our group gathered in Muscat yesterday and today enjoyed the first full day of the tour. Stops we visited included the Moho (📸pictured), Snowball Earth deposits and a Permian/Ediacaran unconformity. We arrived in Sohar at the end of the day and we will be spending two nights here. We look forward to sharing more updates from the trip with you!
This photo is taken in front of the best example of the Moho in the world. This is the boundary between the earth's crust and mantle. The base of the cliff is mantle rock (peridotite) and the upper part of the cliff is rock from the oceanic crust (gabbro).

And that's a wrap! Just under two weeks ago, we finished our 2024 schedule when our final tour of the year arrived back in Marrakech. We had another wonderful tour of Morocco, visiting a wide array of geological sites and seeing a huge variety of world-class fossil locations. As always, the trilobites stole the show, but there was plenty more to see besides! This year, for the first time, we included the Geoparc Mondial Unesco Mgoun in our itinerary. Our group enjoyed a guided visit of the excellent museum in Azilal and marvelled at some great dinosaur track sites within the geopark. Throughout the trip we were well looked after by our friends at Morocco Explorer - thank you Youssef and team!
📸Here are some photos of the highlights of this year's trip - we hope you enjoy them!

We're on the homeward stretch of our final tour of 2024! Our group has been enjoying the delights of Morocco 🇲🇦 for the last eight days and we have just two more full touring days to go! As always, there are too many great sites and wonderful places to name individually, but our journey from Marrakech to Ouarzazate, on to Zagora, Alnif, Mherch and Merzouga, has been full of fascinating geology and outstanding fossils. Our friends at Morocco Explorer have taken good care of us, as always - thank you!
📸 Here are a few captioned photos from the trip. We will be sharing a full trip album in the coming weeks.

Now that's what I call a trilobite! A wonderful example of a Asaphellus stubbsi from the Fezouata Shale of Ouled Slimane. It is Tremadocian (Lower Ordivician, 480ma) in age. Found by local fossil miners.

The GeoWorld Travel team were in London today for the World Travel Market! We met up with some of our existing suppliers and other travel world friends! We were also excited to talk with suppliers from countries that we don't offer trips to... yet! We have had some great conversations and made great new contacts today. We look forward to getting to work on exciting new itineraries soon...

Last week we returned from our latest 'Classic Volcanoes' of Italy trip 🇮🇹 We had a fantastic time seeing geological and archaeological sites in the Naples area before taking a ferry down to the Aeolian Islands and Sicily. It was a great trip which took us to five of Italy's active volcanoes - Vesuvius, Stromboli, Lipari, Vulcano and Etna, with other stops of geological interest along the way.
Here are some of the our favourite photos, with captions, from our nine days in Italy 📸

Less than 24 hours from getting home from the Italy Volcanoes tour, we saw these stunning aurora. The picture was taken just a few hundred yards from the GWT office. Pictures from Italy will be posted in the near future.

We have just completed the first part of our 'Classic Volcanoes' tour of Italy 🇮🇹 and the group are right now setting sail on the overnight ferry from Naples to the Aeolian Islands for the next part of the trip! In the early hours of the morning, the ferry will pass Stromboli, which is the group's destination on Sunday! However, they will arrive on Lipari later tomorrow morning, with lots of geological sites to see there first. So far, the Naples area has provided some outstanding geological and archaeological sites for the group to enjoy: Campi Flegrei, Herculaneum, Vesuvius and Pompeii.
Here are some photos of the highlights of the trip so far📸

While one GeoWorld Travel group was exploring Iceland recently, we have also had another group exploring the rather different geological landscape of Southern Namibia! The 'Diamonds, Canyons and Fossils' trip, led by our excellent Namibian guide, Nicole, is being run for the first time and it will conclude back in Windhoek in just a couple of days time. Nicole and the participants have been sharing some photos with us (thank you!) and here are a few of the best - it looks fantastic!
We will be running the tour again in 2026, so if you would like to join this wonderful trip of geological discovery, then please let us know. Details of the itinerary can be found via the link in the comments.

It hardly seems possible, but we are almost at the end of our Iceland trip! It’s been a geology-packed time so far, so here are a few photos of some of the highlights. We’ll be sharing a gallery of the best photos from the whole trip in the next week or so.
