Stephanie Egger and Leigh Altadonna provided a noontime Feather Friendly installation training to Schuylkill Center staff and interns. The staff then worked on the high windows that require ladders for installation. We were fortunate to have a 60 degree temperature in December

Photos of some of the CBCers who helped cover our assigned sites in the Abington/Cheltenham/Willow Grover area. We had a great turnout, great birds, and a wonderful day for this 125th Christmas Bird Count. The Liberty Bird Alliance continues the decades long tradition of the Wyncote Audubon Society and Wyncote Bird Club!

Help us as we count the birds at our feeders for the Audubon's Christmas Bird Count.

Christmas Bird Count (Seasoned Birders) | 7:30 a.m.
If you are an experienced birder and would like to learn more about additional count events at Pennypack, indicate your interest here, AND email [email protected]. Stephanie Robinson, Environmental Education Specialist at Pennypack Environmental Center, is the liaison for the Pennypack Valley count circle (Code is PAPV), led by Compiler Peter Kurtz.

Open House & Feeder Watch (All Levels) | 9 a.m.-noon
Everyone is welcome to visit the center and learn a little bit about birds. The feeder watch is for all skill levels to join and learn more about birds, counting birds, and the importance of Citizen Science.

Solstice Hike (Older Kids, Teens & Adults) | 9 a.m.- 10 a.m.
Since it is the Winter Solstice, this morning hike will welcome all the beauties of winter. No bird interest required.

All above programs are free and start at Pennypack Environmental Center (8600A Verree Rd. 19115).

Learn to identify and count birds at our feeders! This winter tradition helps the Audubon and PEC to track and learn more about the birds that live and visit our area. Young birders & beginner birders are encouraged to join.

The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a long-standing program of the National Audubon Society, with "over 100 years of community science involvement. It is an early-winter bird census, where thousands of volunteers across the U.S., Canada count birds in established locations December 14 to January 5."

Count volunteers will be counting every bird they see or hear. It's not just a species tally—all birds are counted all day, giving an indication of the total number of birds that live/visit the Center.

While this is an opportunity for all birders to join, if you are an experienced birder and would like to learn more about additional count events, email [email protected]. Stephanie Robinson, Environmental Education Specialist at Pennypack Environmental Center, is the liaison for the Pennypack Valley count circle (Code is PAPV), led by Compiler Peter Kurtz.

You can view historical results for the Pennypack Valley at https://netapp.audubon.org/.../Histor.../ResultsByCount.aspx
