Celebrate Diwali in South India with us! October, 2025!
Our journey begins in Mumbai, this cosmopolitan and vibrant city is the largest in India, buzzing with an exciting mix of local culture, history and western lifestyle - the perfect place to begin (and do a little shopping😉)
A short flight takes us to Chennai, Formerly known as Madras. The city has a unique cuisine and if you’re a coffee drinker you’ll be happy here!
Known for Carnatic music, British-era Architecture and the must visit Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Temple.
Fortunately for us, we’ll be in Mahabalipuram for the celebration of the Festival of Lights, Diwali!
Situated between the Great Salt Lake and the Bay of Bengal, every exotic place in Mahabalipuram depicts a tale that is thousands of years old. Home to the Shore Temple, the Five Rathas - significant to the era of the great Indian epic Mahabharata. Arjuna’s Penance is considered to be one of the largest open rock-cut reliefs in the entire world representing how Arjuna performs various rituals to grab superpowers from Lord Shiva and Krishna’s Butterball, a rock formation that defies gravity as the huge rock stands on a steep slope and could roll down anytime - but hasn’t!
If you scooped up an 18th-century French town and plopped it down in the middle of coastal Tamil Nadu, India, you would have Pondicherry. This breezy city, under French Colonial rule until 1954, is our next stop. Home to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and the Manakula Vinayagar Temple, a centuries-old temple to Ganesh.
Next up is Thanjavur, home to the 11th century Brihadeeswarar Temple, and Madurai, known for the Meenakshi Amman Temple and its Jasmine!
Thekkady, famous for the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary, where we will immerse ourselves in nature and see elephants and tigers is where we’ll be before heading to the sprawling misty mountain tea plantations of Munnar.
Our last stop is Alleppey. We’ll enjoy lunch on a houseboat on the sparkling backwaters and lush greenery of this quaint town before heading to Cochin for a bit more exploring and then onto home with a big open heart after this amazing cultural, historical and spiritual journey! ❤️
