🌟Sponsor Spotlight🌟

Caroline is one of our sponsors here at Lakes Riding Club. She has kindly made a brief video about the services she can provide to help you maintain your stunning appearance both inside and outside the show ring! 😍

We genuinely value our sponsors as they play a crucial role in the smooth operation of the club. Their contributions enable the committee to support our members in competing at area qualifiers and national championships.

Additionally, they assist us in funding club events, training sessions, and the acquisition of new equipment.

Take a moment to explore what Caroline has to offer...she has even generously extended a fantastic discount to our members!

We are always on the lookout for new sponsors so if you'd like to get involved please send us a message on here! 😁

♦️Road Safety Training♦️

We have been asked if we would be willing to provide Road Safety Training. This aligns with the work that some of our members, Amanda and Bev, will be undertaking in the coming months as part of their focus on rural crime and safety. (The Rural Crime Team will have a stand for you to visit at our Combined Training on June 23rd.)👮‍♂️

We would like to gauge interest in this training opportunity. The BHS Ride Safe Silver Award involves three two-hour sessions: one theory session, one ridden practice session, and one road session. Assessment is conducted through ongoing evaluation over the three sessions.

We anticipate the cost to be between £50 and £70, depending on the number of participants. The more participants we have, the lower the cost will be.

This is a great addition to those wanting to upskill in Road safety or expand their professional qualifications!!

Please let us know if you would be interested in participating in this training by messaging us or emailing Hilary!

Thankfully it stayed dry most of the day, I am just not sure which I prefer January weather in June or last years scorching 🤷‍♀️

Lakes RC bring home the red rosettes at Area Showjumping, Bold Heath. Report by Sara Ireland.

Today was the first of the summer area competitions where Area 3 riding clubs compete to see who is going to National Championships at Lincoln later in the year.

We had 5 members taking the trip to represent our club and it proved well worth the journey!

Members Robyn Allan, Sarah Newton, Heidi Holmes and Sara Ireland made up our senior team competing in both 80 and 90 class. Each class consisted of one 9 fence course, then a 2nd round over a seperate 11 fence course where the 2nd part was timed. Our ladies rode fab all day and took the win in the 80cm beating off stiff competition from 7 other clubs. Heidi was 3rd and Robyn 4th individually.

A few hiccups in the 90 meant no qualification this time but smiles all round. Sarah Newton was 5th individually.

Ella Surtees was in the junior 90cm and again took a fabulous win as an individual! Great work!!

That means Lakes RC is off to Lincoln for another year which is fantastic!!

The dressage area later in the season will give members another chance to qualify for those champs so if you want to get involved please contact Jackie or Paula. (Please note if you enter teams please be aware if you qualify we would expect you to attend Championships as this is the whole point of areas)

Well done to everyone today it was another enjoyable and successful journey down the m6! Next area is Horsetrials at beginning of July good luck to you all 😁🤩

Lakes RC Representatives take the rough with the smooth at Arena Eventing Championships, Aston le Walls, report by Sara Ireland.

Last weekend 5 members from our club made the trip “down South” to represent LRC. The team had some significant changes to when they qualified due to a number of withdrawals/ injuries etc meaning Jackie and Paula had their work cut out swapping things around whilst staying within the rules and enabling us to compete.

In the 90 we had original team members Robyn Allan and Natalie Biggs with reserves drafted in Abigail Mitchell-Hunter and Sara Ireland. In the 100 we had original qualifiers Robyn Bowness & Abigail joined by reserves Natalie Biggs and Sara Ireland. This meant we had full teams of 4 which was great!

The trip down was slow with heavy traffic on the M6 as usual for a Friday night. The yard we stayed at was lovely with the horses getting lovely big stables for their holiday and us having time to have a good old natter over some of Jackie’s homemade gin!

The day of competition was eventful to say the least and is best summarised as “full of learns”. We had 1 competitor accidentally jumping one of the show-jumps backwards because their horse locked on, another clocking up so many refusals that the stewards were running after them to stop them, another member riding around the course so fast and out of control as the horse was having so much fun he forgot he had a rider on!, and finally a totally unexpected horse fall that came out of nowhere and was such a shame.

Despite all of this we actually had a great time and for the most part, fun was had. The comradery and spirit between everyone was great and lots of laughs, albeit sometimes it was a case of either laugh or cry! So on paper not our best ever championships but a shout out to Abigail who was 12th in the 90 with a lovely clear round and the 100 team did actually end up 7th out of 16 which wasn’t a bad effort considering some of the luck we were having.

As always our members, both riding and support crew, did Lakes RC proud. Thanks to everyone who attended for their commitment and effort to get there. These things are often very heavy on time and finances and your commitment does not go unnoticed. I think we would all agree however that when you do attend they are great days out producing lots of fab memories and laughs for the future making it all worthwhile. Next area is the Showjumping at Bold Heath so good luck to everyone competing there, Sara x
