Michelle Larmand Photography Tiny wedding + elopement photographer based in a small town just outside of Edmonton not far from the picturesque mountains of Alberta, Canada.

Creator and host of Wildly the Workshop held every year just outside of the amazing Golden, BC. I’m Michelle, a full-time wedding photographer currently based out of a little town outside of Edmonton, not far from some of the classic picturesque mountains of Alberta, Canada. I first became interested in photography as a teenager, playing with film cameras and experimenting with photo shoots, but i

t was not until my own experience with my wedding photography that I discovered my love for photography and decided to pursue it as a career. Since then, I have been traveling the globe with my husband–from the gentle slopes of the mountains of Banff to the coasts of Croatia—learning the ways of travel, photography, and the beautiful combination of the two. Together, and through all my travels, I have built this business one photographic adventure at a time. Of all the adventures I have been on, the best have been the ones where I get to capture the moments when two people commit the rest of their lives to each other through life’s greatest adventure: marriage. My photography on those adventures is driven by the authenticity of my subjects, the intimacy of the moments, and the adaptability of the process. I don’t follow a script or have a list of pre-planned poses. Instead, I follow a feeling and watch for natural connections and movement. For me, it’s all about capturing the intimate, romantic, adventurous, fun, and unexpected moments between you and your love. I have found that time and time again I am drawn to the wildly romantic couples with wildly romantic ideas for their photographs. When I’m not making travel plans for my next adventure, you can find me at home in Alberta, Canada where my husband and I live and explore.

Engagement sessions are such a great time for us to get to know one another and build trust before the big day! Even if you are eloping like these two are this fall!

It’s a time to do something you love together, to have a hair and makeup trial, to put some stress for the big day aside!

During the shoot Seth said to me that he was having such a good time and he appreciated how dynamic and fun the shoot was. Compliments like that mean something much to me!

Did you prioritize an engagement session? Did you enjoy your experience? What did you love? Let me know!

Sometimes things just fall together like poetry!

The morning of this shoot was not going as planned! It was so cold and so rainy! Beautiful was supposed to wear a different dress than the one pictured here. We were struggling to make the other one fit. Finally I was like “switch them”! Meaning the two models swapped gowns and then it all clicked! Sometimes we just need to listen to our gut instincts! Monique floated, danced and glowed in this gown. It suited her sweet spirit perfectly. It was such a simple adjustment but sometimes that is all it takes to lessen the stress in a panicked moment.

I’d love to know a time recently you just listened to that gut instinct and it worked out even better than expected? Let me know in the comments!

Hiiiiiiiii yes I live!

Cannot believe I haven’t posted since June! It’s been a whirlwind of a summer. One of the BEST summers I’ve had! From amazing shoots and weddings. Our trip to France! Camping and kayaking I’m invested in soaking it in. I wanted to say YES more often to invites and experiences this summer. As a Canadian living in northern Alberta it’s such a fleeting season. I am committed to doing this every summer moving forward.

However…I am looking forward to fall! I have SO many exciting things to share so please follow along! Any guesses as to what is coming? Drop those below!

Horses and sunsets…

This was hands down the most unreal sunset ever! It first started out that we had to run inside the barn to dodge the hail. As you can imagine the horses did not like this. But I took the opportunity to get a few of these two in the hay loft! The skies afterwards changes from purple to organs to pink! So stunning.

This was such a fun switch up on their wedding day. They changed from their formal wear into more suitable cowboy attire and we headed to the brides family’s stables. It made for such a memorable day!

Did you do an outfit change on your wedding day? Or are you planning one? I’d love hear your input below.

Storytelling…

We talk often about storytelling in photography. Which can be telling the story of the couple through images. Or it can be the evolution of a couples story. I loved meeting these two at their maternity session late last fall and then again this past month for the newborn session. Such a sweet family! Little Samuel is adorable and has so much hair which is no surprise coming from these two! Gives me baby fever! Any other photographers feel the same after spending a few hours with a wee one?

Would you get married that high up? These two did! It was absolutely incredible! The helicopter dropped us off and then swung down to pick up more guests and decor. We then got to hike down to another spot and take a few quick photos along the way.

The greens where unbelievable! I couldn’t get over the sights. These two love to hike so this was just the perfect way to tie the knot! I’ll also never get over helicopter rides up to the top. This was my second heli elopement and I’d love to do more sessions way up high. There is nothing like it! Have you been up before?

Carousel romance…

When these two said they wanted to go to Fort Edmonton Park I was so excited! I immediately started researching the park to make sure we got to hit up the expedition. I thought it would be closed for the season but our lovely guide let us into the covered carousel. It was so much fun exploring the park with these two! This is part one! I have a part two coming.

Have you been to Fort Edmonton before? Rode the carousel or Ferris wheel? Do you enjoy carousels? I’d love to know!

Who’s ready for the holidays?

Excited for these two! They’ll have a baby this month and that is an amazing gift! Loving these tall grass maternity session. I’m excited for their baby session next month! We will be cuddling that sweet baby soon.

I cannot believe it’s already December 6th! How did this happen? I feel like the holidays are approaching waaaaaaaayyyyyy to fast! Leaves me wishing it was in January! Are you ready to go?

A rare share…

I don’t often share my family work. Mostly because I don’t do a ton of it. But when I do this is my favourite kind of setting. Frolicking in a beautiful setting like this! This sweet little fam met me before a family wedding in Jasper. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

Hope everyone has a weekend just like that. Taking in the all the moments, even the quiet ones! Hold those close to you extra tight. Soak them up! That’s where I’ll be!

I’ll also be possibly putting my Christmas decor up. Have you done it yet? Too early for you? Or you’ve had it done already? For me once it’s dark like this at 5:00 I love having the extra sparkle from the tree to make the nights feel less long!

These two…

This was my last wedding of 2021 and they welcomed me with such welcome arms. Full of smiles, tears and adventurous souls the entire day. It was perfection! I’ll be sharing from this wedding for a long while!

On the home front we got SO much SNOW today! We hadn’t had any until today and but did we get a ton! Took us two hours to shovel our way it was nuts. Has winter started where you are? Are you loving it? Dreading it? Let me know in the comments!

What a week

Yesterday I sent off two sessions and today I culled a wedding. It feels so good to be getting through the pile of editing. I have still 14 weddings and sessions to get through. Any other photographers feeling this? I am trying my best to not feel rushed as I like to make sure I am delivering my best work. However there is a time where you have to say it’s looking good enough and I cannot spend another minute trying to perfect it. So hitting send is a huge relief!

How amazing is are these orchids in this bouquet from my sunrise elopement! nailed it! I was drooling the entire time. I also really enjoyed shooting at sunrise! After the shock wore off of how early it was I loved the more pastel light. I also loved driving from when it was dark and seeing the light slowly start to outline the mountain peaks. It was poetic! Anyone else love to shoot at sunrise?

Sunday recharge

First off how amazing are these two? Amanda was stunning in her cowl neck dress and baby bump. Adrian had a custom suit made right here in Alberta by I love clean and modern city weddings as much as bohemian mountain escapades! Hoping for more of these in 2022! We were actually supposed to go to the mountains but it was snowing so bad so we adapted and explored Calgary!

We had a great day catching up on chores around the house after entertaining this weekend. It feels great heading into the week feeling fresh and ready. I loved having friends over to play some games, laugh and listen to music. Makes me feel normal again during these wild times!

What did you do this weekend? Do you clean on Sundays? Or is it a lazy day? Family day? Let me know in the comments!

Last minute elopements

Samantha and Christopher’s wedding was booked last minute and it was amazing. They found a planner, booked their vendors and got married . After their lakeside vows we drove up to the falls and took some time exploring together. Chatting, laughing and shooting. I love creating a comfortable environment for my couples and that involves creating an experience.

This year was full of last minute bookings along with the previously booked events and those moved from 2020. But honestly even before all the covid reschedules so many of my couples do book last minute. I love couples with a sense of adventure and the last minute type seem to fit the bill!

I’m curious did you book your photographer way out or last minute? Would you elope last minute? Or is that way to scary?

Fall daydreams

These two sweethearts came from Winnipeg to get married on Ashley’s parents land. It was a beautiful ceremony set in a stone circle
ring. They exchanged stones they warmed in their hands and thought about what they wished for their marriage it was so beautiful.

We then explored the area around the property and it was magical! I’ll have a pet two coming from this wedding soon! It involves horses, a lighting storm and crazy sunset!

Halloween is coming…

Now that I’m finally home and settling in it’s nice to finally get into a little routine. Coffee, work, lunch, walk, supper, puzzles and cuddles. Reading to end the night! Such a cozy time of year!

This weekend we start watching Halloween movies to get into the mood! What are your fave ones? Let me know!

Golden dreams…

Been living in the mountains since Sunday and even though it’s lonely being away from home I can never tire of the beautiful views!

Looking forward to my engagement shoot and a wedding on Saturday! Then to get home to my hunnie!

Have you been following along on my stories? Do you like seeing all the views? The behind the scenes? What should I show more of?

Planning for a week away…

So actually it’ll be more like 9 days, I leave this Sunday! It’ll be full of weddings and elopements in the Golden BC area. Which I am so excited for! But it can be a little lonely travelling alone for that big a stretch!

I plan to find some places to hike and yummy places to eat! I am also going to do some scouting for as that is where it’s held. I am already so excited for it to finally happen next year!

So on that note I’ll also need some podcast req’s as that’s all I listen to as I drive! Let me know in the comments below!
