Nicola Clarke is a designer maker, creating adornments, for the body, home and weddings, inspired by her love of nature, animals, tattoos and her extensive travels. Nicola Franklin-Clarke (aka Clarkeypie, Clarkey, Clarkey-pants, Clarkster…the list goes on!)
I am a designer and maker (and dreamer) obsessed with animals (and my furbaby Milo), travel, interiors, skulls and tattoos. A girl on a missio
n to use my creativity for good, and to provide a service and designs for those who are looking for that something a little bit different….just like me! My aim is to make people happy, to make adornments for yourself and for your home that are not only beautiful and make you smile, but also make someone (or something) better off because of your purchase. And you can feel great that you have contributed to doing some good! After my degree (in 3D craft design, specialising in silver-smithing and ceramics at the University of Brighton) I found myself working for many years in conservation and community development across Asia and Africa. (How on earth did I get to that from a jewellery degree you may ask….well its a very long story, one probably best saved for another time, preferably one with a cup of tea!)
Sadly, after six years of amazing adventures, endless travelling and getting to work with some of the most incredible people and animals, this way of life became unsustainable. And so, I returned to the UK with an insatiable wanderlust, a head full of dreams, (a few more tattoos) and a passion for creativity and wildlife and no idea what to do with it! I slipped back into creative jobs, eventually ending up designing and working for an independant jewellery shop. I needed a way to combine my creativity with my wanderlust, and the nagging want I had inside of me to continue to help those animals and people in Asia and Africa that had become such a huge part of my life during the many years spent with them…….. And so, Nicola Clarke Design was born. A brand for people who love unique, meaningful pieces, who want to work with a designer who is a little weird and who promises to try to make you smile. For those who want to make a difference and who want to feel good about what they buy or commission. Whether it be a piece of jewellery we design together, a picture from the store, or a design idea for your wedding, every item is made with love and made to make you feel good. To allow anyone the chance to do their little bit to help others. Nicola Clarke Design offers bespoke jewellery, designed and crafted by my own fair (slightly gnarly) hands, jewellery collections, illustrations and interior design, all inspired by my continuing travels and love of animals, tattoos and a few other odd interest thrown in for good measure. Alongside all of this I also offer a wide range of wedding related services to make your day that bit more awesome; rings, logo’s, branding, wedding stationary, and even classes for you and your better half to attempt to make each others rings. Never one to do things conventionally, everything on offer is unique and designed the “Clarkey” way. There is also the added bonus that a portion of the profits are donated to help support and fund the projects, animals and people I have been lucky enough to spend so many years working alongside. So with any purchase from Nicola Clarke Design, not only do you get something awesome to enjoy, but you also contribute to the rehabilitation of wildlife and conservation of the natural world! Get in touch and let’s make something absolutely freaking awesome! INFO
All items are made by hand to order by me and are unique. As much effort is made as possible to match items to the original in the picture but please allow for slight differences that may occur, it is, after all, what makes your piece individual! :)
I am more than happy to make variations of pieces shown, where possible, such as alternative stones/sizes etc. but i also offer fully customised commission service, just contact me with you specification and I will get back to you with whether it is possible and a quote. Because all pieces are made to order, unless there is an intrinsic fault with the piece i am afraid i cannot accept returns.
