How do you feel about serving?
Do you find joy in serving people?
Or do you feel bitterness and hardness when someone asks you to help out?
This weekend I got to serve about 230 Vineyard kids and leaders for the Northern Regional Conference called Limitless. Let me tell you, doing this was hard, emotional and super fun. With Limitless being really close to Park Rapids, I got to attend the conference as a youth. While it transformed parts of my life, this year as a Leader I got to watch Jesus move in amazing ways. So being a Leader this year was really cool because I got to see the different side of this conference that a lot of youth don’t get to experience.
When helping out for Limitless, I found it physically and emotionally draining. At times I found myself asking God “Why I am I doing this?” or “Do I have to do this?” I struggled all weekend because I kept pushing God out of what I was doing. I was focused on the “why” and not “the people” I was serving. I was trying to get the job done without God. I shut people out, I was focused on getting the job done on time or the right way, and forgetting whom I was serving.
Here are a couple keys points I learned from the weekend.
IT WASN’T ABOUT ME
God calls us all to serve with a servant's heart
When serving, we are serving the Kingdom of God and people
I had to keep serving even if I didn’t feel up too it
With me writing about serving, if you feel like God is calling you into serving in an area of the church like, coffee bar, youth, small groups, worship team, etc. Pray into that, because God is pushing you into a new season of life that could be cool if you say yes.. Check into that, because when you say yes to Jesus and His church, He will honor you, when you honor Him!
Peace out,
Tegan
