Nightlife in Tehran, Iran, 30-Tir Street
This historical street, with its many historical buildings and museums like ceramic and glassware, national museum, etc., and also old school cafes, has become the new hangout location for young souls of Tehran.

30-Tir Street now is a cradle for new experiences since it has been paved and closed on cars at nights. This street which was one of the most up-to-date areas of Tehran in the old Tehran, now is shifting to something more. “Food and art” have given a different atmosphere to the nights of 30-Tir. The smell of street foods, smoke of grills, the sound of laughter and street music have created the scene of aliveness once more. The theme of “street food” which has been the main idea, has led to many portable stations for homemade sandwiches, local and traditional foods, beverages, ice cream, food, and of course coffee in the area. Now imagine all that being accompanied by modern art performances as a Tehran night life feature. The best way to go to 30-Tir Street is by metro. The nearest one is Imam-Khomeini station on line 1

Necropolis or Naqshe Rustam, Shiraz, Iran
نقش رستم، شیراز
Naqsh-e Rostam or Necropolis is an ancient necropolis located about 12 km northwest of Persepolis, in Fars Province, Iran, with a group of ancient Iranian rock reliefs cut into the cliff, from both the Achaemenid and Sassanid periods. It lies a few hundred meters from Naqsh-e Rajab, with a further four Sassanid rock reliefs, three celebrating kings and one a high priest.

Bande Amir Bridge, Fars province, Zarqan, Iran
(Persian: بندامير‎) is a stone dam in Band-e Amir Rural District, Zarqan District, Shiraz County, Iran.
The name of this dam was taken from the name of Amir Azad al-Dawlah Deylami, who built it about 1060 years ago. On the both sides of the dam, where a lake of water has been gathered, there are ten sets of water mills that are mounted on each other, and the dam water that passes through the qanats irrigates 300 villages in the area. According to Ibn Balkhi, in eleventh century, a great deal of money was spent on the construction of this "great dam" that was unique in the world. It's made of stone and Sarouj.

1. Band-e Amir is 120 meters long and 5 meters wide

2. There are thirteen spring fountains in which the water flows from their overflow.

3. The height of the bridge from the surface is 3.80 meters and the depth of the strait from the overflows of the on the outer side of the stepped barrier is ten meters.

4.An interesting feature of this dam is the existence of a natural water pond in the bottom of the body of the dam that prevents the damaging effect of the energy of water flow on the body of the dam.

5. There are two shores near the strait on the east coast, where the creek of the head of the mill begins. Many of these mills have now been destroyed.

6. Band-e Amir has a deviant crevice and a water level regulator, known as the Gav_Shir River, apparently built before the main dam. This deviation tunnel design is being used today to create large dams.

Nowruz - The Persian New Year and The Spring Equinox
Nowruz, known as the Persian new year, is one of the most ancient celebrations in history and has been celebrated for around 4000 years in what is now Iran and in the extended cultural area known as Greater Iran. It is an ancient celebration with the spring equinox as the main event occurring on 20 or 21 March every year. During ancient times, Persian kings greatly emphasized the importance of this event and invited people from around the empire who were of different ethnicities and followers of different religions, to the royal court for celebrations and receiving gifts. After thousands of years, Nowruz remains to be the most important celebration for Iranians as well as for around 300 million people in the neighboring countries of Iran, who together celebrate the arrival of spring and the rebirth of nature.

Mythical and Historical Origins of Nowruz
Nowruz is the Persian name of the Persian new year consisting of two words; Now or no meaning new and ruz or rooz meaning day, which when put together means new day . This celebration and its associated events has been celebrated for thousands of years by the people of Iran and the people of Central Asian countries, former parts of ancient Persian empires. Nowruz emerged as people of these areas of the world left the nomadic life and established settlements which started a new phase in human civilization. Today, it is the world's only event which is celebrated at the exact same moment throughout the world. The celebration is not connected to religion and is based on astronomical celestial events even though Nowruz is deeply rooted in Zoroastrianism, the ancient Persian religion.

Persepolis, Shiraz, Iran
Persepolis is the Greek name (from perses polis for 'Persian City') for the ancient city of Parsa, located in northeast of Shiraz in present-day Iran. The name Parsa meant 'City of The Persians' and construction began at the site in 518 BCE under the rule of King Darius the Great (who reigned 522-486 BCE). Darius made Parsa the new capital of the Persian Empire, instead of Pasargadae, the old capital and burial place of King Cyrus the Great. Because of its remote location in the mountains, however, travel to Parsa was almost impossible during the rainy season of the Persian winter when paths turned to mud and so the city was used mainly in the spring and summer warmer seasons. Administration of the Achaemenian Empire was overseen from Susa, from Babylon or from Ecbatana during the cold seasons and it was most likely for this reason that the Greeks never knew of Parsa until it was sacked and looted by Alexander the Great in 330 BCE (the historian Plutarch claiming that Alexandercarried away the treasures of Parsa on the backs of 20,000 mules and 5,000 camels).

Though building began under Darius, the glory of Parsa which Alexander found when he invaded was due mainly to the latter works of Xerxes I and Artaxerxes III, both of whose names have been found (besides that of Darius) inscribed on tablets, over doorways and in hallways throughout the ruins of the city.

The first day of spring is cause for a celebration. Nowruz, or "new day" in Persian, is an ancient festival that marks the beginning of spring and celebrates the rebirth of nature. And naturally, it has a lot to do with fresh, green foods just beginning to poke out of the ground that remind us winter is not, in fact, eternal.
The haftseen table is a relatively recent addition to Nowruz – a folksy tradition with murky beginnings. "We do not even find this spread mentioned in the chronicles of travelers to Iran up to the modern times," says Ahmad Sadri, a professor of sociology and anthropology at Lake Forest College and an expert on ancient Persia.
In every home, the haftseen table is decorated with seven items – since seven is considered a lucky number. Each item begins with the letter sin (s) in Persian, and each item is a symbol of spring and renewal, including:

Seeb (apple), representing beautySeer (garlic), representing good healthSerkeh (vinegar), representing patienceSonbol (hyacinth), representing springSamanu (sweet pudding), representing fertilitySabzeh (sprouts), representing rebirthSekeh (coins), representing prosperity

Other words beginning with the letter "s" can also be used, such as the spice sumac, its brilliant gold color representing the sunrise, or senjed, a dried fruit of the Lotus tree, representing love.

Some families even add a little more flair. Haftseen tables can also include a Quran, a book of poetry, a mirror and candles (reflecting into the future), a goldfish swimming in a bowl (representing life), painted eggs (representing fertility), and all kinds of sweets and fruits

When it comes to Iranian exports, a few things come to mind: oil, rugs, pistachios, and caviar. With the finest sturgeon coming from the waters of the Caspian Sea, caviar is one of the country’s main exports, generating more revenue that crude oil.
