Our Story

I take small groups of 6-10 people to the most magical place ever. The focus is on art, especially folk art, culture, and food. We enjoy meeting artists in their studios, visiting indigenous markets, exploring ancient ruins from the Zapotec culture, and shopping. Oaxaca is a beautiful colonial city with a temperate climate all year. There are 7 distinct cultural regions in Oaxaca and one of the largest populations of indigenous people in Mexico. I have been traveling to Oaxaca since 1986 and while I have been to many parts of Mexico, I always return to Oaxaca. Many of my former group members have returned several times with me.

My tours are personal and I can design a tour around your specific interests. Over the years I have met several artists in their villages outside the city. We can visit them in their homes and receive demonstrations. There are several important archeological sites to visit outside of town that are included. In addition, I can connect you with cooking schools, and professional local guides.

Tour options: Day of the Dead in late October, Guelaguetza in July, or Focused Folk Art Tours anytime of the year. Let’s plan a tour that is perfect for you!
