Temple Aliyah and Shomrei Torah are delighted to partner on a joint trip to visit the Abayudaya community in Uganda for a special global experience. The 15-day tour will begin in Uganda, with a stop in Kampala, and then a week’s stay in Mbale, outside the Jewish villages. We will have the opportunity to meet with our friend, Rabbi Gershom Sizomu, for an update on the Jewish community and his new w

ork as a member of the Ugandan Parliament. After a music-filled, soulful Shabbat experience with our Ugandan family, we will make our way to Kenya for some vacation time in the Africa bush, in the renowned Maasai Mara National Reserve, complete with wildlife viewing. We end our trip with Shabbat at the Nairobi Hebrew Congregation, and museum visits, including a stop at the home of famed author Karen Blixen. On Nov 12th, Rabbi Camras and Hazzan Stein will share their experiences in Uganda, and the importance of outreach to this Jewish community. Cantor Mindy will outline the tour logistics and answer questions about registration.
