After 10 ml of rain we popped down a Mallee Track…lit a fire and allowed that amazing serenity to wash over us once again.
Saw a few kangaroos, birds as they hopped from branch to branch and
found wildflowers in among the vegetation. Correa reflexa, Flame Heath, Hibbertia and Brush Heath.

A lovely day spent on Mallee Tracks. Visited Baan Hill Reserve with the remnants of Mrs Moncur’s home & garden (worm wood) and more but the huge gums aren’t looking very happy unfortunately.
Encountered 2 bustling echidnas crossing the track to safety then onto Box Flat…one of my favorite Mallee areas.
Down to Bucks camp with that beautiful golden light of the late afternoon…I was surprised to see jonquils dotted around the ruins…reminders of past gardeners long gone.
We travelled back to Ngarkat Hwy along the Boundary Fence in the dark…not recommended atm with the wet conditions!!
The wild flowers are just starting…it will be a picture in a few weeks!!

A cool day but a lovely one spent down in Ngarkat…a fire and sunshine, lovely company and the peace. 💚
