For today's adventure in Acadia we hiked up to triad peak then over to Pemetic Mtn, down the backside to the "bowl". Then hiked up between the bubbles and down to the Jordon pond area. Trail conditions were icy to dangerously icy where we had to circumvent trail sections over steep terrain and ledge. A nervously fun day!

Today was another great day in Acadia! We decided to take Cadillac north ridge trail to the summit of Cadillac. Then we hiked down the slippery, icy gorge path trail to the gorge between Dorr and Cadillac mtns. Hiked down thru the gorge on the A Murray Young path to Dorr south ridge trail, wwnt up the south ridge trail to Dorr summit continued onto Dorr North Ridge trail to kebo mountain trail and finally kebo brook trail back to vehicle. The weather was great today had lots of sun in the morning and some clouds for the afternoon, only saw 1 person on top of Cadillac with his dog but Saw lots of deer tracks, fox tracks, coyote, rabbits and red squirrel. Got to drive thru a nice snow squall on our way back.

Had a great day hiking in Acadia! We didn't do our planned hike due to the weather. Very cold, windy, and blowing snow. We opted for trails that were out of the high winds. Parked at Bracy cove and went up the David and Neva trail along long pond to the cobble stone bridge built in 1917. Then onto Jordan pond. From there we took the asticou and Jordan pond path to harbor brook trail up charles savage to Eliot mtn then down towards thuya garden and took Richard's trail back to charles savage and back to long pond.

What a beautiful day to get out and enjoy the sun. We went back over to the Abbott/Sugarloaf loop off owls nest rd in Shapleigh. Saw a few hikers today out enjoying the trail. On our way out we came across a deer carcass. Not much left of it. Coyotes picked it pretty clean. Looking forward to next week's hike!

Another great day out snowshoeing over on sugarloaf and Abbott mtn trail loop. We went clockwise today hitting sugarloaf first then over to Abbott. Lots of sunshine which made it seem warmer then it was. From both summits you could see mt. Washington with its sugar coating. Trail is once again all packed out for anyone that wishes to snowshoe the loop.

Yesterday we did a 6.8 mile snowshoe here in the shapleigh/newfield area, Abbott Mtn and surrounding hills on a marked trail system we created 3 years ago. Snow shoes are the way to go even with this amount of snow cover, bare booting just destroys the trails creating difficult walking for all!! Use them if you have them, inexpensive ones from Walmart, big lots, job lot, work just as well!!!

Had our first snowshoe hike of the season! We did the Abbott/sugarloaf loop, a great workout in snowshoes for sure! Parts of the trail were wet, hard crusted, bare ground, and a mixture. Where people barebooted was tough going but thats what happens with lots of hikers. Not everyone wears snowshoes which really does help pack down the trail and making walking it so much easier! Weather started out sunny and in the 30's. Snow squall and windy on Abbott. Sun back out on the way to sugarloaf. Had 2 bald eagles and a juvenile circle us on sugarloaf. Saw lots a deer, coyote, fox and turkey tracks. Finished our day in a very cold windy snow squall.. looking forward to getting back out there next weekend! Anyone want to join us? Your more than welcome to!
