Mdina, Malta is one of Europe's finest examples of an ancient walled city and extraordinary in its mix of medieval and baroque architecture. It’s less than a 30 minute cab ride away from the capital city of Valletta, and is ABSOLUTELY worth the effort to get to! I loved it so much a few years ago that I purposely chose a cruise with a stop in Malta last summer so I could take my mom! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

The many stages of picture taking with a 12 year old! I save all of these bad photos too because it helps me remember not just some pretty bridge in Nuremberg, Germany; but the time and the feeling of that particular day. Traveling together as a family is rarely just about the places you visit. I’m sure I’ll look back at these when he’s older and still get a kick out of what a little jokester (insert punk 😂) he was!

Just finished a 2 week cruise sailing from Argentina to Chile, rounding Tierra del Fuego, through the Strait of Magellan and hitting the “end of the world” in Ushuaia, Argentina.
This is how my family does Christmas— no trinkets or junk to throw away— just quality time together seeing some of the most magical places on earth.

PRO TIP: Always buy the Spa Pass when you go on a cruise. Most cruise lines will have saunas, steam rooms, hot rock beds, different salt and shower rooms—- and some even have jacuzzis and therapy pools. They always cap the amount of people allowed in the spa, so while the other 2,000 people onboard are fighting for space in 3 or 4 jacuzzis at the pool (or are having to watch the dreaded belly flop contest)—- you can be in a quiet area with just a few people around. (I had this relaxation area all to myself!)

Not all of my time away is spent sightseeing- the thing is, I’m actually still working the whole time I’m gone! Clients are still traveling, and I spend a portion of each day either meeting with suppliers or touring hotels, etc.
The best part is that I now have friends around the world who I can’t wait to meet again!

The Cairo souq (bazaar),Khan el-Khalili, is one of the world's great shopping experiences.

It’s a complete labyrinth of skinny alleyways dating back to AD 1400!!

The main streets are now full of cheap tourist souvenirs, but head off the main drag into the surrounding alleyways, and the tiny stores and cluttered workshops are some of the best places to visit to pick up traditional products in Egypt.

Nothing can prepare you for the beauty of Iceland. Talk about sensory overload!! It seems like an incredible waterfall is around every corner.
Located on the famous Ring Road and a popular day trip from Reykjavik, Skogafoss waterfall is 82ft wide and 200ft tall—-even though it only looks about half that size in this picture! If the sun hits it just right, massive rainbows emerge. There is even an observation deck above for those brave souls willing to climb the 500 steps to get to the top!
Just a 2 hour flight from Dublin, Iceland is an easy add-on to your next Europe trip!

Probably the most photographed castle in Scotland (after Edinburgh Castle, of course) Eilean Donan Castle is an historic stronghold of the Scottish Highlands clans, such as the MacKenzies (I see you, Outlander fans), MacRaes, and the MacLennans.

The structure is dated back to the 13th century and has housed many inhabitants since. The castle receives hundreds of thousands of visitors every year and by looking at pictures, it is easy to see why.

In some of the oldest buildings in Florence, you may see small open windows around arm height.

Once boarded up, these literal holes in the wall are finally being used again for their intended purpose – to serve wine with little person to person contact!

Originating during a plague that ran through Europe in the early 1630s, these wine windows were put in to allow merchants to continue to operate while social distancing.

Almost 400 years later, 14 windows remain around the city, where you can now purchase wine, coffee, and gelato.
