Great stories
Around the time someone you knew died, or experienced a tragedy, have you ever had an experience that you thought was paranormal -before knowing that they actually had died, or undergone the tragedy?
In 1886, the Society for Psychical Research published "Phantasms of the Living", a landmark book dealing with hallucinatory experiences in regular, "sane" people. This was the first significant book published by the Society (by three authors: Edmund Gurney, Frederic Myers and Frank Podmore) and it later led into the "Census of Hallucinations", which was published in 1894. The authors of "Phantasms" felt that the apparitional experiences people were having were at least suggestive of telepathy -for one thing, the experiences tended to clump together around the time of a friend or relative's death. By the time of the "Census", the existence of telepathy was considered proven by many of the SPR researchers, though the question of the "survival" of human personality after death was more difficult to assess.
If you've had an experience that falls into the category listed in the first paragraph, or know someone who has, please share it; these could include seeing an apparition during that time period, hearing a voice, sensing a specific presence, experiencing unexplained physical activity (like a clock stopping), or simply getting an unexpected, sudden "sensation" of tragedy. You may be surprised to find that others have had similar experiences. What did this experience do to you? Have you had similar experiences before that?
