In June 2012, Top Gear Adventures launches its pilot tours in Bolivia and Chile, based around the route chosen for the 2009 BBC Top Gear South American Special, using the original Top Gear 4 x 4´s. The participants will have the unique opportunity to drive Jeremy Clarkson´s 1984 Range Rover Classic, Richard Hammond´s 1974 Toyota Landcruiser, and James May´s 1991 Suzuki Samurai, on a 2-week journe

y through Amazon jungle, to an extreme altitude on the Andes mountains, across the world’s largest salt flat, and finishing on the Dakar Rally route in the Atacama desert. The three 4 x 4’s were rescued from the Chilean desert at the end of the 2009 filming, before being sold in 2010 to a group of Top Gear enthusiasts and investors, who created the Top Gear Adventures concept. During 2010-2011, Top Gear Adventures ran endurance and altitude tests (with and without tourists on board) in varied climates and conditions, so as to fully prepare the vehicles for the 2012 tours. However, following their ordeal in the company of the Top Gear trio, the 3 cars still display their earlier stubborn and temperamental characters, so shunting, punting, pulling and pushing fortunately continues to be a crucial part of the experience.
