I am not sure what I was expecting on Sardinia, but I got everything and then some.
Our partners @raro set up an amazing day on Sardinia, which the 2nd largest island in the Mediterranean. Only Sicily larger.
Our first stop was the Roman ruins at Nora. We had an incredible private guide who pointed out what all the ruins would have been - theater, temple, baths, marketplace. There were beautiful mosaics that have still survived. One of the most interesting facts we learned was that the Sardinians abandoned the coastline for mountains due to malaria.
Our next stop was one of the many gorgeous beaches on the island. The color of the water was stunning! Plus we got the opportunity to stick our toes in the (CHILLY!) Mediterranean.
Next up was lunch at a restaurant was open only for us! We sampled typical Sardinian cuisine at an agro-tourism location. We ate locally produced cheeses & cured meats, traditional Sardinian pastas followed by a whole spit-roasted suckling pig. We washed it all down with wine produced on site as well as some other Sardinian options. If you like amazing food, raro is for you!
Since we lingered over our incredible lunch, we only had time for a quick bus tour of Cagliari before needing to return to the ship.
One day was not enough for me on Sardinia! I will be back! There is so much more to see and do!

A day at sea on Virgin Voyages is not complete without brunch. Razzle Dazzle, a veggie forward restaurant, with highlights such as mushroom tartare. There are also “naughty” items like fried chicken, amazing bacon and churros. A definite “don’t miss”!
