Day 1 of my first solo vacation complete. The place I’m staying at is adorable and the beach is 1 min one way and the cute little downtown area is one minute one other direction. I am loving it, it’s so perfect.
Turns out, you have a lot of time to think on a solo trip and do a lot of soul searching. I brought a journal that has nothing written in it here to document this trip. It will end up having some pretty deep thoughts and emotions in it, but I am leaning into myself and what I want and who I want to be in this next phase of life. Pics of Day 1:

Airport rules hit different

The only time I’m a morning person: 6:25 am flight, left my house at 2:45. Ready to hit the beach! 🌴🏖️

If you ever get the chance, go alone.

Walk alone, travel alone, live alone, dance alone.

Just for a while.

If you ever get the chance, learn who you are when the world isn't demanding you be one way or another.

Most people only know how to stand on their own if someone else will stand beside them.

Don't let that be your story.

When you get the chance, know that the opportunity to walk alone, even for a bit, is a rare gift, one that will hand you insight that can change the course of your life.

Everyone, regardless of special needs or disabilities, should have the opportunity to travel. As an occupational therapist specializing in accessible travel, I have the knowledge and training to assist with planning your next vacation!
Did you know that specialized equipment such as the items listed below, could be rented for your next cruise or beach vacation?

- Transport wheelchairs (standard, heavy duty, or bariatric)
- Standard wheelchairs (standard, heavy duty, or bariatric)
- Scooters (standard, heavy duty, or bariatric)
- Power chairs (standard, heavy duty, or bariatric)
- **A standard or heavy duty scooter or wheelchair will fit in a regular sized stateroom door. Scooters and wheelchairs for guests over 350 pounds will need a bariatric scooter or wheelchair, and they must get an accessible stateroom when using this equipment
- Wheelchairs and scooters can be taken off the ship, but your particular shore excursions department needs to be consulted to make sure they have the appropriate accommodations. For example, there may be a shuttle that will need to transport you and your equipment
- JOB (Joy On The Beach) wheelchairs have inflatable tires that roll easily on the beach and into the water.
- Rolling walkers
- Stationary walkers
- 4 wheeled walkers
- Hospital bed (depending on cruise line)
- Reclining chair
- Lift for transfers (traveler supplies own sling and accessories)
- Lift chair
- Shower bench
- Shower/commode combo
- Oxygen
- Special requests including, but not limited to mini refrigerators for insulin, incontinence supplies, service animal supplies such as mulch, organic baby food, braille services, hearing devices.
