Though duck confit sounded awfully good we had to check out this new Mexican food place on Rue du Bourg Tibourg. Easy walk up and order format, with choice of a “base” such as a bowl or tacos or quesadilla. Add a “garniture” or two such as mushrooms or chicken pibil, then a sauce. I had the salsa verde. Not bad at all. The place is Bocamexa. Complete with tortillas Imported from Mexico. Just don’t judge them too harshly for using feta cheese instead of queso fresco. Very friendly outgoing staff (of one ebullient guy at the counter) fluent in French, Spanish and anglais. And really great playlist.

We found it! Some says it’s the best pizza in Rome. Whatever or wherever it may rank...it was fabuloso. My choice was beautifully textured roasted broccoli and pumpkin and some nutty crunchy things. And why not add to that the best suppli ever - first good one on this trip: hot and the mozzarella cheese all melted and stringy when you break open the hot fried goodness. Good thing we walked those 608 steps for that stunning St Peters view from the cupola.

I really thought I had led my tired and hungry son to a primo pizza place based on thorough internet research. But instead it was one of the best pasta places in Rome. And thus this tiny hole-in-the-wall place was packed. One-hour wait at 2:30pm. I ordered wrong - accidentally ordering enough for 3 people. I should have known something was wrong when even the server looked a little surprised. No dinner tonight. This handmade fettuccine for the cacio e pepe - wow. And those fried artichokes. In season now. Carb detox will come, but happy to finally get some outstanding local food.
