Furthermore, the enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring moderate to intense rainfall in other areas of Luzon and Visayas (especially along the western portions). For more information, refer to Weather Advisory No. 5 issued at 11:00 AM yesterday.

Severe Winds
The wind signals warn the public of the general wind threat over an area due to the tropical cyclone. Local winds may be slightly stronger/enhanced in coastal and upland/mountainous areas exposed to winds. Winds are less strong in areas sheltered from the prevailing wind direction.

• Minor to moderate impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the localities where Wind Signal No. 2 is hoisted.
• Minimal to minor impacts from strong winds are possible within any of the areas under Wind Signal No. 1.

The highest possible Wind Signal that may be hoisted during the passage of ENTENG is Wind Signal No. 3.

The enhanced Southwest Monsoon will also bring strong to gale-force gusts over the following areas (especially in coastal and upland areas exposed to winds):

• Today: Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Aurora, Bulacan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and Visayas

HAZARDS AFFECTING COASTAL WATERS
In the next 24 hours, ENTENG and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon will bring the following conditions over the coastal waters of the country:

• Gale Warning is in effect over the eastern seaboard of Luzon and the southern seaboard of Southern Luzon. Sea travel is risky for small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas. For more information, refer to Gale Warning No. 2 issued at 5:00 AM today.
• Moderate to rough seas over the northern seaboard of Northern Luzon and the western seaboard of Central Luzon (1.5 to 3.5 m), the western seaboard of Southern Luzon, the southern seaboard of Southern Luzon outside Gale Warning areas, and the seaboards of Western Visayas (1.5 to 3.0 m). Mariners of small seacrafts, including all types of motorbancas, are advised not to venture out to sea under these conditions, especially if inexperienced or operating ill-equipped vessels.
• Slight to moderate seas are expected over the rest of the country (1.0 to 2.5 m). Mariners of motorbancas and similarly-sized vessels are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigation under these conditions.

TRACK AND INTENSITY OUTLOOK
• ENTENG is forecast to make landfall over Isabela or Cagayan this afternoon or evening, although a landfall over northern Aurora is not ruled out at this time. From tomorrow early morning (3 September), ENTENG is forecast to turn more northwestward or west northwestward over the landmass of mainland Northern Luzon and emerge over the Luzon Strait by late morning. For the remainder of tomorrow until mid-Thursday (5 September), ENTENG will move generally westward over the Luzon Strait and the West Philippine Sea. On the track forecast, this tropical cyclone may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday (4 September).
• ENTENG is forecast to maintain tropical storm category until Tuesday during its traverse of mainland Northern Luzon. Further intensification is forecast to occur from Wednesday onwards, with ENTENG reaching severe tropical storm category on Wednesday and typhoon category on Friday (6 September).
Considering these developments, the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to take all necessary measures to protect life and property. Persons living in areas identified to be highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards are advised to follow evacuation and other instructions from local officials.
