Pawna Lake, also known as Pavana Lake, is an artificial lake in Maharashtra, India. It was created in 1973 by the construction of the Pawna Dam on the Pawna River

The dam was built primarily for hydroelectric power generation and water supply

Before the dam's construction, the area had a small natural lake, but the dam significantly expanded it

Today, Pawna Lake is a popular destination for camping, picnics, and various water activities, attracting visitors from nearby cities like Pune, Surat, Navsari and Mumbai

The adults only live for about two to three weeks, during which they focus on finding a mate. The male fireflies use their flashing light patterns to attract females, while the females respond with their own light signals. Once they have mated, the female firefly lays her eggs and the cycle begins again.

With remnants of Microlithic human inhabitants and references in sacred texts like the Matsyapurana, Agnipurana, and Skandapurana, Harishchandragad is not just a trek but a passage through India's ancient heritage, nestled within the rugged beauty of the Sahyadris near Bhandardara.
