Kedarkantha, a stunning peak in the Himalayas, is rich with mythological significance, particularly related to Lord Shiva. The name "Kedarkantha" is derived from two Sanskrit words: "Kedara," meaning "Shiva," and "Kantha," meaning "throat." Thus, Kedarkantha translates to "Shiva's Throat."

One popular legend tells that Lord Shiva chose the summit of Kedarkantha for meditation. However, he was disturbed by a bull running below, prompting him to relocate to Kedarnath for his meditation. This story not only explains the name but also adds a layer of spiritual significance to the trek.

Ratangad, often referred to as the "Jewel of the Sahyadris," is a historic fort located in the Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra, near the village of Ratanwadi. This fort, which is about 400 years old, was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Ratangad is perched at an elevation of 4250 feet and offers stunning views of the surrounding Western Ghats, including the Bhandardara dam and lake.
The fort features a natural rock peak with a cavity at the top known as "Nedhe" or "Eye of the Needle"

It has four gates: Ganesh, Hanuman, Konkan, and Trimbak, with sculptures of Lord Ganesh and Hanuman adorning the main gate.

The fort is also home to the Amruteshwar Temple, renowned for its intricate carvings dating back to the Hemadpant Era (roughly the 8th century).
The trek to Ratangad is popular among adventure enthusiasts and offers a moderate challenge with scenic vistas, ancient caves, and seasonal waterfalls
