The Driftless Muse retreat house, Mount Carroll Illinois, is in the beautiful Driftless Region http://wwx.inhs.illinois.edu/research/rra/site1/ of North West Illinois. Featuring a small art studio and designated writing space, it is a perfect place to explore nature, make art, write or just plain relax. Two blocks from the quaint center of town, where you will find good food, antiques, local music, and cobblestone streets.

The City of Mount Carroll and the Mt. Carroll Rotary welcome you to the Ice Skating Rink!

Rotary Rink is located next to the Mt. Carroll Swimming Pool and is open daily from 10am to 8pm. There are various sizes of skates available for you to use.

Please call City Hall at (815) 244-4424 to use the rink after hours or if you have any questions.

Every Saturday night in October you can experience Timber Lake Terror – a Haunted Experience located on the grounds of Timber Lake Playhouse. Wander if you dare through the haunted theatre and feed your nightmares on the chills, dark shadows and the faint smell of death. Hear the footsteps coming from nowhere are you move quietly through the outside wooded trails. You may think it’s over, but it’s just beginning! Magic is one of the oldest and most mysterious art forms, and Jessica Jane and David Minkin have studied it for their entire lives. Journey with them on a magical experience and leave reality behind.
