The Water Mill is a Grade II listed property, complete with luxury fittings, original historic features, designed to provide guests with elegance and comfort.
Bradbourne Mill is a collection of historic and Grade II listed properties. It’s located in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside of the Peak District and is though to be the oldest surviving watermill in Derbyshire. The Water Mill, which originally milled corn and wheat since the 1500s, has been lovingly converted into a 16-person detached holiday home, which houses luxury fittings and many of the original historic workings. Such features inside the property include the ancient stonework, oak beams and preserved water mill machinery, providing you with a stunning insight into the history of the building. The living room features two luxury sofas, whilst the dining room has a farmhouse dining table with benches. Attached to the outside of the property are the famous mill waterwheels. The original wood and iron waterwheels have been restored and turn from time to time, and they are fed by the waters of the ancient mill pond adjacent to the property.
There is a designated picnic area located by the river for Water Mill guests - only a short walk away. Maps of how to get there are provided at the Mill. The Water Mill has been designed to give guests elegance with comfort, and has been furnished with a country-style ambience. This is the perfect place to unwind after sight-seeing and walks with your family or friends. An additional paddock is provided next to the stream, a five-minute walk away, for guests to take picnics, play ball games or simply relax. On offer are many final touches including the hire of a hot tub, cocktail classes, murder mystery nights, beauty and hair therapists, cooking classes, art classes for kids and adults, keep fit classes, professional photography, archery lessons and bush craft experiences. Various activities around the area include spa days, clay pigeon shooting, Go Ape, quad biking, treasure hunts, paint balling, sailing and guided walks. The Water Mill is a short walk away from a footpath and stream that joins the High Peak and Tissington Trail, and conveniently connects to a path and lane leading to Carsington Water. The location of the property offers guests brilliant walking and cycling opportunities. The walks are endless, and depending on your ability, there are hills and valleys surrounding the Peak District National Park to explore. Maps and ordnance surveys are provided at the property. Horse riding can be found nearby at Tissington and Netherton, and there is a golf course at Ashbourne.

My final hotel visit was The Grecotel LuxMe White Palace. Well, this one is a real stunner. It’s super chic and as the day goes by, it has a real beach club vibe.
Right on the beach, with serious a la carte offerings, this is a foodies heaven. The wine library is a real treat too! With 264 rooms, it’s not a particularly big hotel but it feels so spacious. All inclusive plus comes as standard. I ate at the Fico d’India restaurant which specialises in Italian cuisine 😍🤤
The rooms are sleek, and so stylish - it’s a theme with Grecotel, along with amazing smelling public areas (I know that sounds weird, but it’s true! Imagine a spa!) and staff that are incredibly attentive.
This suits those wanting a chilled out holiday, in stylish surroundings, fantastic food and great wine! So most of us really! 😀

💙 5* Grecotel Creta Palace - this is where I spent 2 nights. It’s a medium sized hotel with a really lovely pool and a gorgeous beach. I loved the decor in my room here (see video), and the food and drinks are beautiful. We had breakfast on our final day at the traditional cafe and the set up was so stunning (see blue chair pics!)
We also ate lunch here and the quality of the ingredient and the fact that the dishes are so Greek is a win win - Greek food is one of my faves!
The Sky Bar is a real treat with views out across the hotel and sea. Really tasty cocktails - with service that is second to none - a Grecotel standard.

💙 Lots of room types to choose from here, including rooms with private pools. The room I was in slept up to 5 people, plus an infant. It had 2 bathrooms and 2 separate large sleeping areas. Not too shabby!

🤒Apologies for taking so long to update you on my trip to Crete….on Wednesday night I became poorly so I missed 2 hotel visits on the Thursday. I thought it was heat exhaustion as I’d spent so much time the previous day out in the baking heat and it felt the same as when I’d had it before. By Thursday evening I felt considerably more human and I flew home on Friday.
It was only when over the weekend, I noticed that I couldn’t taste much that I did a Covid test and there you have it! The Covid symptoms then decided to arrive like a bull in a china shop!
Enough of all that, I’m working and getting on with things - the dog still has to be walked and school uniform still has to be ironed!
Following on from my last post, the hotels that i didn’t get to visit were the Caramel Grecotel Boutique Resort and the Aquila Rithymna Beach. But my fellow travellers kindly gave a really good lowdown of both hotels. The photos I’ve used are professional photos due to aforementioned lurgy!

🇬🇷The 5* Caramel is close to the beach and is small in size with a room count of just 69. This hotel offers bed and breakfast or half board with an option to dine a la carte. The rooms are decorated in a modern way but with lovely traditional features - decorative and colourful floor tiles, white washed walls and the standard Grecotel mattress that is like sleeping on a cloud - that is a fact!

🇬🇷The Aquila is a beachfront hotel and much bigger in size than the Caramel. With 512 rooms, this 5* offers all inclusive plus which offers fabulous dining options for the foodies. It has a crèche for 8 month olds to 3 years, then a kids club from 3-12 years old. Some really great kids facilities here. There’s even a sleepover club for 6-12 years olds! The grounds are beautiful, as have been all the hotels on this trip I’ve seen. A fabulous sandy beach and sea views from various room types. This really is a very good family hotel that works for adults as well as children.

🇬🇷☀️ On Wednesday, after an incredible breakfast at The Amirandes, we moved over to The Creta Palace where were to spend the next 2 nights. En route here, we visited the Grecotel Marine Palace Aqua Park Resort. A great choice for families with an on-site Waterpark at no extra charge. A beachfront hotel that has 423 rooms and several dining options.
On Wednesday evening, we went to Agreco Farm, part of Grecotel, where we viewed the grounds, learnt of the history, and saw the animals onsite that produced the milk they used for some of their products. The meal was typically Cretan, with the wine they produced.

😴 So I’ve been awake for about 40 hours but it’s fine, I’m fine - everything is FINE 😵‍💫🤭
But I’m tucked up in an extremely comfy bed for some shut eye, in prep for a day of hotel exploring tomorrow.
☀️ Today though, we arrived at our hotel for the night: The 5* Amirandes Grecotel Boutique Resort.
The staff are so attentive and friendly.
The food is fabulous with fresh, locally sourced produce.
Right on the beach with a seriously impressive sunset.
A relatively small hotel with a chic boutique feel, excellent food, a great selection of top quality drinks, lovely staff and incredible service. Right on the beach with a hotel owned private section.
Swim up rooms, family rooms and luxurious villas available. Various board options. Classy entertainment.
Beautiful lighting and a real zen-like feel.

🇨🇭 The hotel in Locarno tonight is another beauty. We stay here for 2 nights and the balcony has a view over Lake Maggiore. It is the Italian speaking part of Switzerland and so has a very different feel to it than Lucerne where we stayed last night. My next post will detail my journey here today, on foot, by boat, by train, by bus! The views that entire time have been nothing short of epic ⛰️❤️

🇬🇷 We’re on the ferry transferring us from one side of Kefalonia to the other! Can’t wait to get to the hotel and relax!! 😍 ✈️ East Midlands airport wasn’t too bad at all. Our flight was delayed by 1.5 hours, but it seemed to be the only one that was all morning, can’t complain at that. We got the bus to the ferry port, then after this 25 minute ferry journey, back on a bus for 15 mins to our hotel. It’s felt like an epic journey but I think it’s because I didn’t go to sleep last night as we left the house at 2am!! Lovely breeze in this ferry too…good job as it’s 32 degree. ☀️

My story...

I’ve worked in the travel industry for over 10 years now - but my passion for travel has lasted a lifetime. As a child, my parents put money aside to take us on a European holiday each year. My Mum valued a holiday so much - for her as a hard working parent, and for us as children and a family. She certainly passed on this passion to me!

I have been lucky enough to travel to some beautiful destinations: Lapland, New York, Thailand, the Caribbean, skiing in France, the Gambia, Greece, Malta and much of the Mediterranean, to name but a few. My knowledge of worldwide destinations from Pembrokeshire to Perth means that I can always plan a getaway that meets your requirements and create lasting memories. I get great pleasure in finding the right holiday for my clients and I enjoy creating itineraries, from bespoke round-the-world-adventures to package beach holidays.

I strive to provide friendly and efficient customer service combined with great value for money. I can provide all varieties of holidays from UK boating breaks to cruises around the Caribbean, skiing holidays, city breaks, and more. Anything goes! Additionally, I can organise car hire, airport hotels with parking and many other extras.
