I now have 2 new niche brands to introduce you to. Some of you already know Mary. My friend & SDT partner who's been working with me for the last few years. Her specialty niche brand La Semilla Travel focuses on reformative travel. She does luxury travel for clients as well as group retreats. Now, recently my Niece Isabella has joined me and created a niche brand with Sunny Dreams Travel called Trips by Bella. Planning to renew your Passport? Please don’t wait too long. Over the past few weeks it is taking MUCH longer to renew a passport. According to the State Department, the routine applications are now taking between 10 and 13 weeks, while expedited applications are now taking between 7 and 9 weeks. These timelines do not also include mailing times to be mailed back to you. The State Department said “It may take up to two weeks for applications to be mailed, and another two weeks for them to be received so routine applications could now take up to 17 WEEKS or more than four months, from time of mailing.
This is over double the time it was taking before.
The main reason for the longer processing time is the higher demand for passports. 2023 is on track to set the record for the highest year ever for passports. There are plans to try and lower those processing times. The State Department is “aggressively recruiting and hiring,” offering overtime to its current employees, and opening satellite offices to help process the large number of applications coming in.
The State Dept. had also been allowing some to renew their passport online. The online portal, which was technically still in testing mode, was open as recently as January, giving passport holders the chance to do everything online. However, that portal is now closed and while the State Dept. said they plan to roll it out fully sometime this year, that’s not an option for travelers right now. Still…the best thing international travelers can do right now is to apply for their passports as early as possible. Those who are traveling with less time to spare (within 2 weeks of the travel date) are able to schedule an in-person appointment at a regional passport agency in order to expedite the process. Those appointments can be scheduled only by phone. Applicants will be required to provide proof of travel when making the appointment such as a itinerary and travel confirmation which can be provided by your Travel Agency. Safe Travels my friends.

They now have more than 10,000 parking spots available! They offer self-serve, reserved parking, street parking and 24-hour valet parking. They have doubled the number of automated gates for faster crossing. They now have 25% more processing stations to get your Immigration Form /I-94 permit even quicker. New Tijuana Airport processing facility has added an additional processing building of over 420,000 sq ft. to expedite your travel experience. They added additional security screening capacity for faster processing.
There is also an increase of airline counter area for a faster check-in and baggage drop-off. More transportation options like shuttle routes to Southern California, Arizona, and Las Vegas.

If you're traveling, especially during the holidays and want want to eliminate some of the lines, it's a program you want to look into.

Grab your Passports ~ More travel restrictions have been lifted! The Biden administration will drop the Covid-19 testing requirement for inbound air travelers from abroad ending one of the longest-running travel restrictions of the pandemic.

The rule most recently required inbound travelers, including U.S. citizens, to show proof of a negative Covid test 1 day before boarding U.S.-bound flights. Travelers entering the U.S. at land border crossings were exempt.

This new change takes effect at 12:01 a.m. ET on Sunday, June 15th.

Face masks will now be optional on planes and other forms of public transportation after a federal judge in Florida on Monday ruled against the federal mask mandate. Shortly after, The White House said it would no longer enforce it while it is under review.

The ruling, is the first lawsuit filed against the mandate to successfully get a ruling against the CDC’s mask rule, which has been in place since Feb. 2021.

The White House confirmed that the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) would no longer enforce the mask mandate on public transportation, even though the White House may still appeal the decision in the future and is reportedly considering its next steps.

“Today’s court decision means CDC’s public transportation masking order is not in effect at this time,” the official said according to multiple reports. “Therefore, TSA will not enforce its Security Directives and Emergency Amendment requiring mask use on public transportation and transportation hubs at this time.”

The White House will continue to “recommend” that people wear masks, according to a statement from White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Monday afternoon, but for the time being, passengers in the air will no longer be required to wear face masks and flight attendants will no longer be enforcing the rule.

After being extended last week, the mandate could have officially expired on May 3. The federal government had reportedly considered letting the mask expire last week, however, due to an increase in infections and in severe COVID-19 outcomes in some parts of the U.S., it decided to extend it out of "an abundance of caution."

“Since early April, there have been increases in the 7-day moving average of cases in the U.S. The CDC Mask Order remains in effect while CDC assesses the potential impact of the rise of cases of severe disease, including hospitalizations and deaths, and healthcare system capacity. TSA will extend the security directive and emergency amendment for 15 days, through May 3, 2022,” the CDC wrote at the time.

IMPORTANT Updates regarding U.S. Travelers returning from international destinations, COVID-19 antigen testing on property & Costa Rica Travel updates.

U.S. Traveler Update

Effective November 8, 2021, all U.S. citizens who are unvaccinated will be required to show a negative COVID-19 test taken within ONE DAY of departure to the U.S. This new policy is a change from the previous 3 day requirement, which remains in place for vaccinated travelers.

Children between the ages of 2 and 17 are required to take a pre-departure COVID-19 test in order to enter the U.S., regardless of citizenship. Children under 2 years of age are exempt from the testing requirement, and children under 18 are exempt from having to provide proof of vaccination.

Additionally, airlines will now verify vaccination status – in addition to negative COVID-19 test results – to ensure individuals comply with the correct testing timeframe based on their vaccination status.

On-Property COVID-19 Testing

Most hotel properties will continue to offer COVID-19 testing but please check with the property your staying specifically to make sure they can do this new 1 day turnaround test to return to US for unvaccinated people.

Costa Rica Traveler Update

Beginning January 8, 2022, the Costa Rican government will implement a new regulation mandating that all hotel guests must be fully vaccinated. Both international and national guests visiting Costa Rica who are not fully vaccinated as of January 8, 2022, are welcome to enter the country, but will not be allowed at restaurants or on hotel property.

I know all our Cruise lovers are happy to see the ships back on our beautiful open seas. Some of the major cruiselines are now accepting AT HOME covid test results to make it easier for you to get back to seeing the world by water and through sunsets.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises are offering fully vaccinated cruisers booked on future sailings access to at-home COVID-19 antigen test kits. The kits are meant to help people more easily meet the CDC’s pre-cruise testing requirements.

The CDC requires vaccinated cruisers to show a negative test result from a PCR or antigen test taken no more than two days before their cruise departs. Cruise lines may choose to accept at-home antigen tests if conducted during a telehealth visit. The test provided by Royal Caribbean and Celebrity, and accepted by Carnival Cruise Line, deliver results in 15 minutes.

Cruisers booked on one of the Royal Caribbean brands can order the at-home antigen test at a cost of two for $69.99 or pack of three for $99.99. Pricing includes the test kits, expedited shipping, and a live virtual visit with an eMed Certified Guide who will help with the proper administration of the test. Results are verified in 15 minutes and provided via email, as well as within the NAVICA app. Please note… You will need a computer or device that has a video camera and a good Internet connection

Carnival Cruise Line will also accept at-home test results using the same test kit if ordered from the same company that the Royal Caribbean brands are using – Optum. The same goes for Princess Cruises, who confirmed to TMR on Tuesday that it will also accept Optum tests. https://store.optum.com/royal-caribbean/

A note on the box indicates you need to download the app, then scan the barcode on the box when you want to do your test. Cruisers should allow three business days for the kits to be shipped to their homes.

As we all get back to travel we ask for your patience while things catch up. Hotels & airlines are training new employees and suppliers are also dealing with less inventory due to final restrictions still waiting to be lifted.

The latest example of growing travel demand and how it has affected airlines as the country reemerges from the COVID-19 pandemic indicating people are READY TO TRAVEL just happened last weekend.

Southwest Airlines & American Airlines had to cancel hundreds of flights over the weekend and suffered lengthy delays on thousands more. Both airlines have had to deal with weather interruptions and computer glitches but there is also another big issue that is affecting things. Due to the pandemic airlines are smaller than they are used to and have had to cut employees and flights while struggling to handle the rapid increase in travel. Airlines as well as the entire travel industry went into survival mode and are trying to recover from 18 months of limited travel. During this time we all appreciate your patience and confidence that the industry will be back and better then ever.
