Try to travel,
otherwise
you may become racist,
and you may end up believing
that your skin is the only one
to be right,
that your language
is the most romantic
and that you were the first
to be the first.
Travel,
because if you don't travel then
your thoughts won’t be strengthened,
won’t get filled with ideas.
Your dreams will be born with fragile legs and then you end up believing in tv-shows, and in those who invent enemies
that fit perfectly with your nightmares
to make you live in terror.
Travel,
because travel teaches
to say good morning to everyone
regardless of which sun we come from.
Travel,
because travel teaches
to say goodnight to everyone
regardless of the darkness
that we carry inside
Travel,
because traveling teaches to resist,
not to depend,
to accept others, not just for who they are
but also for what they can never be.
To know what we are capable of,
to feel part of a family
beyond borders,
beyond traditions and culture.
Traveling teaches us to be beyond.
Travel,
otherwise you end up believing
that you are made only for a panorama
and instead inside you
there are wonderful landscapes
still to visit.

“The New South Wales government will announce within days that it will extend the operations of Australia’s biggest coal-fired power station for as long as four more years.”

Surprise surprise. There is no substitute for base load energy is there!

So much for renewables running the energy grid.

Holiday Recap !
Well, what a fantastic time, it's hard to pick a best highlight. Obviously the Service at Hell Fire Pass was high on the list. The Scooter ride around Saigon at night was great, the Hot Air Balloon flight over Vang Vieng was fantastic but I think the Trip up the Mekong River in a long boat was probably the Highlight of the whole holiday. Laos is opening up as a great place for tourists, Vang Vieng is the adventure capital of Laos, not the prettiest little town but plenty to do and beautiful scenery. Our holiday coincided with Laos New Year which also incorporates a water festival. Everyone seemed to be enjoying them selves immensely, imagine people riding around on motorbikes or in the back of utes spraying and dousing people with water 💦 I Australia 🦘 We have let ourselves become too overgoverned by successive Governments but this current bunch of clowns 🤡 really take the cake 🍰. Australians don't have to take any responsibility for their actions any more . A sad state of affairs 😭
Oh well, time to plan the next adventure.

So very true 😁

Just one day a year we get up early so we can honor the legends that fought for us, that got maimed for us, and who made the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom of our country and our people. To those who make excuses as to why they can't or didn't attend a dawn service, to those who make NO effort to pay their respects to our fallen, our living past and present military men and women, well all I can say is your a mutt!!
Thank FK all the past and present legends didn't say, I can't be bothered today, or it's to cold to get out of bed today!! Don't be selfish and lazy, don't be a thankless mutt, get off your arse, get to a dawn service and show these men and women that you are truly thankful for what they have done for us.. Forever Grateful..
Lest We Forget..🇦🇺

A few random photos from Around Kanchanaburi over the last few days. We head out @ 2.00 am tomorrow to get to Tha Sao where Hell Fire Pass is located. Quite a few Aussies rocking into town today for the Anzac Dawn Service.

We left Chiang Rai at Sunrise this morning and headed out to the airport to fly to Bangkok. A fairly uneventful flight, landed early, found out driver and headed to Kanchanaburi. Very hot and very dry..need rain badly. Sorting out a ride out to Hell Fire Pass for Dawn Service on Thursday. Anzac Day. Managed to catch the train going across the Bridge over the River Kwai just after we arrived.

I think he wanted to avoid his wife, so he took us up to the Golden Triangle and a few other places as well. Returned home via a few little country roads, very enjoyable. Barely a tourist in site all day.
Had a couple of Beers at Steve's Hangover Bar while Petal had a massage.
Tonight back to the Night Bazar for another cheap meal. And a few more Beers 🍺

Our hotel last night was a 5 star looking facility but a little behind on maintenance. We were the only guests 😁
This morning it was into a Tuk Tuk and out to the Border Crossing. Firstly through LAO departure, then onto a bus across the friendship bridge to Thailand border security. We then got a ride to Chiang Rai with a private driver.. he was obviously in a hurry, 140 km / hour. 😂
Checked into our hotel, then out for a walk.
Tonight we had dinner at the Night Bazar before checking out a few more bars.
Also filmed the Chiang Rai Clock Tower, which I'll post separately.

Day 2 of our epic Mekong River Adventure, another fantastic day. Lots of Alluvial Gold Mining along the river, as well as individuals panning for the valuable metal. We stopped this morning at a Khmer Hmong Village that the boat company sponsors. Had some rice crispy's that we gave to the children. A real genuine experience, not a tourist stopover with hawkers and beggers. The river changes as we get closer to Thailand, the wealth of Thailand is obvious when compared to Laos.
A totally fantastic adventure, excellent crew, even though most didn't speak English .
We at hotel in Huay Xay tonight, about 200 metres from the border into Thailand.

What an absolute fantastic couple of days ! Luang Prabang is a beautiful city, world heritage listed. And our two day journey up the Mekong River has so far been unbelievable.. tonight we are in Pak Beng at the Pak Beng Lodge, a beautiful spot for viewing the sunset. Tomorrow we head to Huay Xay near the Thai Border.. this boat trip is the last for the year until September. All the other boats have tied up. The river level is getting too low. Luckily there are only 4 passengers on the boat so another bonus. There are cheaper Backpacker boats you can take for $20 but why would you 🤗 Laos is definitely a return destination.

I haven't posted for a day or so, apart from the Reel yesterday. So I've missed a bit. This morning we were up at 5.00 to see the Alm's giving to the Monks. We saw the genuine thing before going into town to see what the tourists have turned it into. Then a tour through the morning markets before going back to the hotel to have breakfast. After breckie we headed into the Old Kings Palace, now a museum. From here we headed out to kuang Si waterfall, stopping at a fabric weaving workshop on the way. Some beautiful fabrics created here. Unfortunately Kuang Si waterfall was overrun with Chinese Tourists 😕 Sad side effect of the Railway 🚂 All in all a fantastic day. Sadly not enough time here in Luang Prabang as we head up the Mekong River for two days on a long boat tomorrow. Luang Prabang is well worth a visit, it's a beautiful city of about 130,000. Vang Vieng is also a fantastic place for adventure.

A day of Adventure today. Firstly did a walk down to, across and along the river and back to the Hotel for a refreshing Beer 🍺 ( it's 40 bloody degrees) Then we picked up a buggy and did a tour around the country side, and a couple of the Blue Lagoons. Got drowned by kids with hoses, buckets and water cannons several times 😁 It supposedly gets rid of the Bad Spirits and brings you good luck. New Year Celebration goes on for 4 days.
Once back it town we jumped into a long boat and did a river cruise. Then it was back to the hotel pool and a couple more beers.. Tonight meeting another Blogger from Australia who lives in Lao.

Another quick journey around Vientiane to check out the Celebrations for New Year, then it was out to the Chinese Train Station to catch the High-speed train to Vang Vieng. The adventure capital of Laos. Lots of New Year Parties and Songrahm Water Parties. Luckily we stayed relatively dry.
Many things to do..Hot Air Balloon, Paraglider, cave Rafting , canoeing, Bikes, Buggies.
Booked sunrise balloon for Monday. Tried to book from Australia, $220 head. Booked here $115 head. Another Aussie Rip Off.

After breakfast this morning we headed out to Plane of Jars Site 1 to check it out .
For those of you who didn't know, Laos was the most bombed country in the world. Not by the American Army but by the CIA. An incredible UNESCO World heritage site.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to launch the Drone again, due to the proximity to the airport.😕
Archeologists have confirmed that this was a burial site, the bodies cremated in the cave then remains put into the jars for several months.
The entire province of Xieng Khuang was flattened by bombing, not a house or Temple left standing.
After plain of Jars we went to the old Capital of Huong Province before flying back to Vientiane.

Another day, another country 😀
We flew into Vientiane last night, the capital of the People's Democratic Republic of Laos.
A quick look at the night market nearby our hotel then an early night.
This morning after breakfast we jumped into another Tuk Tuk for a tour around the city. This afternoon we fly up to Xieng Khuang to check out the world heritage " Plain of Jars" then back to Vientiane tomorrow.
