Sweet Sandro Botticelli died on this day.
What a wonderful man, a supremely gifted artist. His works epitomize the Renaissance style that was shared by his colleagues like Michelangelo and Raphael. As a boy, he was befriended by the two Medici brothers, one who was later to become Lorenzo the Magnificent. Can you imagine being his best friend???

I am asked this question often. I'm so used to looking at them, that I forget to think about this question! 😁

I have been a writer (professionally) all my life (my dad was a writer, my son LOVES to write), so writing comes really naturally to me.

I spent the last 20 years as a professional photographer, and coupled that with 20 years knee-deep in history and ancient archaeology all over the world.

I've traveled the globe many many many times over - enough so that I was able to spot many gaping holes in the travel guidebook industry. I was always on the hunt for high-quality, deep travel books everywhere I went. But alas...

So I created these book so that you could enjoy Italy like no other book has shown you, and I will continue to add to the collection.

This sweet man was the highest paid artist ever before in history, and rightly so. As a Sculptor, a Painter and an Architect, he left behind what is considered to be the most iconic works of the Renaissance period. His sense of humor peeks through in so many of his works, which are still hugely famous 500 years later.

Michelangelo's works can be enjoyed in Museums around the world, but mostly in Florence and Rome.

Happy Birthday Michelangelo, and thank you for leaving us these everlasting gifts from your heart.

It's Archaeology!

Here's something that many visitors to Rome haven't done yet: Play Golf under the Roman Aquaducts!

The lush greens lay peacefully under the overhead waterway of the Ancient Romans. The Roman aqueducts were first started by Appius Claudius in 312 bce (2 centuries before Julius Caesar). Building Aquaducts were a regular thing bybthe time of Caesar, who continued building them in his time, as did many of the Emperors like Augustus, Claudius, and of course Trajan, who built them all over northern Italy, and through the Western European countries including England.
