On this day 75 years ago, Ted Smith signed into being a brand-new county-based trust for nature conservation. A few days later, Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust would officially take on its first nature reserve at Gibraltar Point.

Ted was determined to stop the destruction of our county’s most precious natural habitats and protect the species that call them home. We have come a long way since his first pioneering steps in December 1948, but our mission remains the same.

🥪 Today we celebrate The Big Lunch! Bring your friends, family and food and dine like royalty in the castle grounds 🥪

If you are joining us for todays celebration please be aware that you can bring your own food and drink, however, in the interests of safety no drinking glasses or glass bottles will be allowed to be brought into the grounds. Please use plastic drinking cups and bottles instead.
Your are free to bring a picnic, chairs and blankets. Picnic Tables are also acceptable, but please note that you may be directed as to where these can be located.
Please do not bring umbrellas or gazebos.

Access to Lincoln Castle will be via the East Gate only today.
