Hey there! It’s Travel Tip Tuesday.

Seasick? 🚢 🚢 🚢

Eat a green apple!

Green apples are often available at the buffet on your cruise ship and are a natural remedy used by crew members and passengers.

They're easy to grab and keep in your cabin!

A simple solution in a pinch.

Travel Tip Tuesday!✈️

Before traveling outside the U.S., it’s important to research that country’s travel requirements.

Flying to Mexico? You just may get charged for bringing electronics through customs. It’s not consistently imposed, but you just may be taxed!

Travelers bringing electronic devices to Mexico are getting hit with hefty fines at Cancun airport. Here's what to know about visiting Mexico with laptops and iPads.

Took advantage of the amazing deal for a last minute mini vacay cruise and got right back on the MSC Seashore! MSC’s private island, Ocean Cay, is by far my favorite in the Bahamas.

I highly recommend the Hyatt Regency at the Orlando airport. Super convenient and beautiful.

I’ve sailed on the Meraviglia twice; I love the ship and the European vibe. MSC is making a splash in the U.S. market, and they have some kinks to work out to cater more specifically to the American market…but I really love this cruiseline, and the price is more than right!

Norwegian Joy NYC to Bermuda

A few favorite things:

-Embarkation and disembarkation was so quick and easy!

-Awesome Entertainment: such a cool variety of music venues, PG and adult comedy, and my friends raved about the show, “Elements” (I missed it). The Beatles tribute band was spectacular! Be sure to book shows early on your app! I enjoyed late nights dancing at Spice H2O. All ages fit in!

- Bermuda is a beautiful island…sad that we lost a day due to weather. If you’re thinking about going this summer, you will fall in love with their pristine beaches. Docking for a few days is such an ideal way to experience Bermuda. Take the one week voyage this summer to have more island time.

- Specialty restaurants are top notch. I loved the ribeye at Cagney’s. My son raved about the filet.

- The Observation Lounge. Spend time there. A chill vibe, (sometimes) music and food, and always amazing views.

- Brand new thermal spa. Soooo amazing. Hot and cold rooms, relaxation beds, some of the best views on the ship, and so much more. It can be pricey, but worth it if you’re into health and wellness.

- Fun activities for kids and those who are kids at heart - like the aqua park and speedway!

What we found could be improved upon:

-While I love freestyle dining, not having a designated dining time and restaurant meant longer wait times. Suggest: put your name in earlier than you want to eat and plan to have cocktails at the nearby bars while you wait.

-The food quality was somewhat hit or miss. Still, we could always find something we really enjoyed. Just don’t be afraid to ask for a different entree if yours doesn’t suit your taste. The waitstaff are so accommodating.
(beware: if you’re gluten-free, connect with the maitre’d on night one.)

Overall, a fun cruise; I only wish we could have stayed longer and wish the weather agreed with us. STILL..ANY day at sea.. I will gladly take it!

CT friends, looking for an affordable long weekend beach getaway? 🏖️

Fly to West Palm 🌴 on Avelo (from Tweed in New Haven).

Stay at the Holiday Inn Express 🏨 -- a great value for this prime real estate -- just a block away from the pristine Juno Beach. ☀️

Ask for one of the renovated rooms, and tell Julie at the front desk that we sent you!

Hey, first time cruisers 🛳️, I’ve sailed on more than twenty cruises, and I’m often asked for advise for first time cruisers. So, here’s what you absolutely need to know!

This is My List…📔
Part One!

#1: Your Room Key 🗝️is also your Onboard Wallet: Cash 💵and credit cards 💳are only needed off the ship.

*Speaking of spending at your ports, I recommend credit versus debit; it is easier to dispute charges. Not all vendors are honest.

#2: Choose your Cabin Type Wisely: ⚓️Interior cabins are budget-friendly, but can feel a bit claustrophobic for some; ocean view cabins have a small window, letting in some light and a view, and balcony cabins offer more space, views, and fresh air.
*I personally love quiet time with a beverage 🍹and an appetizer 🫒…while listening to the sounds of the sea. 🌊

#3: Understand Tipping: 💁‍♀️Know about automatic service charges,; they are typically added to your ship account and are payable at the end of your cruise.
*Personally, I give a little extra in cash 💰to those who go above and beyond — and to the dining waitstaff if they’ve been the same servers each night at dinner. But this is absolutely optional.

#4: Pack a small Carry-On bag for embarkation: 🎒Include day-one essentials like medications and swimwear to enjoy the ship immediately; 👙your cabin may not be ready the instant you board, and your luggage may take a few hours to be delivered to you… so have what you need to start enjoying the ship as soon as you board.
*I have lots of tips on what to pack, especially for minimalists. DM me if you’d like me to share.

#5: Skip the Buffet on Day 1: 🍕🌭🍔Avoid crowds; other dining areas are less busy and will feel less hectic.
*Just about everyone runs to the buffet! I like to walk around, get to know the ship, and find a quieter spot to sit and have a bite to eat.

Hope that helps! Stay tuned for Part Two!

Happy Cruising! 🚢

Can a Caribbean Cruise Boost Your Mental Health?

Taking a Caribbean cruise isn't just a fun getaway; it's like hitting the refresh button on your mental health.

Imagine yourself lounging by the ocean, with nothing but the sound of waves and the sight of endless blue. It’s the perfect setup to kick stress to the curb and find some peace of mind.

The cool thing about being at sea is how it forces you to live in the moment. You’re away from the daily grind, soaking up Vitamin D, and just feeling good all around. Cruises have a perfect mix of chill time and fun stuff to do, so you’re never bored but always relaxed.

Plus, hanging out with new people, trying out different activities, and just basking in the sunshine can seriously lift your spirits. It’s about unwinding, getting that mood boost, and coming back feeling well rested and just, well, better.

So, yeah, a Caribbean cruise? It’s pretty much a mental health retreat on water.

What about cruising helps YOU to feel better?

As an avid cruiser from CT, I LOVE sailing out of NYC. And I have to say, my BEST experiences have been on Norwegian.

Here are my top 5 reasons:

#5 Going out of NYC: Save on Flights. NO cost or wasted travel days flying. This actually fits for all cruises out of NYC, of course!

#4 Norwegian has something for everyone. Based on what I've seen, no ONE age/stage/style stands out. Love the vibe.

#3 The food is consistently good -- variety and quality -- and open seating is so much more convenient. And their specialty restaurants are my FAVORITE at sea. I especially love Cagney's steakhouse.

#2 The Adults-Only Thermal Suite. I love me a spa experience, and I especially love all the options of a thermal spa. Saunas, vitality pools, ice rooms, steam rooms...So rejuvenating and relaxing. I cannot wait to experience the new one on Norwegian Joy!

#1 Free at Sea Perks -- This is hands-down their most popular promo, and it makes sailing on NCL a real deal: open bar, a specialty restaurant night, free credit towards excursions, and wifi are all part of this promo. No other cruise line that I've sailed does it this well.

We have two groups sailing on the Norwegian Joy out of NYC to Bermuda...April 9-14 and June 23-30. Fantastic deals. So excited to experience all of their amazing renovations that were just completed.

DM for more info!

On this snowy day, consider planning your next -- or first -- cruise!

Here are some cruise hacks from my good friend and frequent cruiser, John Guidry.

Your key card is how you get on and off of the ship, get into your cabin, get drinks on your drink package, purchase items, etc. Keep your key card with you even when you don’t have pockets by using lanyards.

Every afternoon you will receive a daily bulletin outlining all of the things that you could do during the following day. A highlighter will make it easy to plan out your time.

Everybody needs sticky notes and a pen. Use these to leave notes for your cabin steward on your mirror (like “Could we have two more pillows, please?”), or you can easily leave notes for each other, as well.

Your cabin is well designed to make the most of every square inch of space, but--at the end of the day--it is still a small space. Keep it organized and clutter free with a mesh hamper for dirty clothes; easy to pack and easy to use; just set it up in a corner.

The steel walls of your cabin are just below a thin, decorative veneer. Make the most of that wall space with magnetic hooks (for lanyards, robes, swimsuits, etc.) and magnetic clips (for daily bulletin, important documents, etc.)

Cruise cabins never have enough electrical outlets. Make sure that you have plenty of outlets to charge phones and other electronic devices by using a compact power strip.

Shipboard massages are expensive (and generally mediocre); you can probably do a better job with a partner and some relaxing body lotion.

When you want to soak up some sun on the deck, pack your books and sunglasses in a brightly colored packable bag, keeping everything all together as you relax, sun, and sip.

Cruise ships don’t allow aerosol sprays. Keep your (small) cabin bathroom smelling fresh with a car air freshener; just leave it on the floor at the back of the toilet.
