Snow shoeing in the park is great!

❄️Park scientists completed the first snow surveys of 2021 in the Olympic Mountains and report that the snow pack is at 116% of normal. We have also received 20" of snow at Hurricane Ridge since the surveys were completed. The Climate Prediction Center continues to forecast La Nina conditions into March, which gives us a higher probability of cooler and wetter than normal conditions. Typically, the Olympic mountain snowpack reaches it maximum in early April, so stay tuned for an update!

There was actually a Bear on the beach on Saturday! No one had any memory of that happening before. I guess the eagle decided to go check him out... after a while officials came & trapped him with yummy things...back to the mountains.

After being closed through the weekend due to unsafe road conditions, the road crew is currently working to clear the Hurricane Ridge Road. We expect to open Hurricane Ridge today at noon!

As you can see, there is still ice on the road and parking lot, so if you plan to visit, use extra caution! And remember, opening at noon is the goal, but conditions can surprise us so call 360-565-3131 for updates on the road closure before you head out!

Hurricane Hill Road, Obstruction Point Road, and Deer Park Road will remain closed to vehicles.
