Just a reminder to all you fabulous ladies ( and fellas) that tomorrow night, Thursday the 7th, is our Terwillegar trail maintenance evening. It's going to be a FABULOUS evening to work on this river valley trail system. The Trail Crew has organized a systematic approach to complete tomorrow's tasks... so we are looking forward to seeing as many volunteers as absolutely possible to better our trails....also remember to wear appropriate clothing, close toed footwear, Bring a beverage for hydration, a snack, any tools that would be helpful and bug spray .... we plan to meet at 6 PM at the west end of the new parking lot and will wrap things up about 8 PM…
Terwillegar Park is a HUGE park so we really need all hands on deck. If you haven't RSVP'd yet please email Tracy at [email protected]

SAVE THE DATES!

PLEASE HELP! We have 2 more trimming nights planned and the Terwillegar trails really need your help. It’s a jungle out there! This is your time to give back to the trails you love. Come to one or both nights, any time you can spare is helpful and much appreciated.

When: Monday July 17th and Tuesday July 18th
Time: 6:00 – 8:30 (both nights)
Location: Terwillegar Park

BRING: Weather appropriate clothing, closed-toed footwear, water, trimming tools.
RECOMMENDED: Work gloves, eye protection, pruning shears, handsaws, bug spray, snack and a backpack to carry everything. We only have permission to trim but we can cut deadfall to lay across mud holes if needed so bring a hand saw if you have one. A couple of leaf racks would be very handy as well. Any battery powered tools are very welcome (w**d wacker, hedge trimmers) Please come and bring a friend (or two, three....).

** Meet on the grass West side of the new parking lot, ready to go by 6:00.
** Car pool if you can
Optional to park on the upper road (Romaniuk Rd.) and walk down the gravel path (the one by the Fireman's trail).

Information about fallen trees on the Edmonton trails.

Hello DirtGirls,

We just wanted to pass on some information about how to deal with fallen trees on the trails. First you will need your smart phone and the 311 app.

https://www.edmonton.ca/programs_services/edmonton-311-app.aspx

When you see a fallen tree too large to drag off the trail please report it with the 311 app. First take a photo of the issue (tree), then add a short description, provide contact information and submit. The 311 contact centre receives the information and passes it to the City department responsible for follow up.

This can be used to garbage, homeless shelters etc.

Thanks from the DG Trail Crew

Report your concerns on the go with the Edmonton 311 App. Using your smartphone, you can notify the city of damaged sidewalks and trees, graffiti, excessive litter, potholes and more.

Paved Path Closure above Skyline trail. The message below is from the City's RIVER VALLEY PARKS & FACILITIES.

I just wanted to let you know that we have just recently been required to permanently closed the paved trail that runs behind the old timer's cabin that runs through Nellie McClung park. The detour involves using the sidewalk along scona rd. I believe this aligns with the worst sections of the skyline trail. The granular trail is still open as it starts south of the landslide affected area. If you have any questions please give me a call.

Hi everyone,

Our friends over in the Hardcore club have informed us of more damage to the Skyline trail. See message below. In light of this information the DirtGirls club will no longer be riding this trail on any of our club rides.

Thanks, DG trails crew.

Hi all,

This is a public service announcement from our trail maintenance coordinator for our club.

Skyline Trail is now ripe for a major cave-in, and it's a long way down to the river. There is also no reroute possible, since the instability runs all the way back to and including the paved path.

As a result, as a club, we will no longer be riding this trail on any of our club rides and we highly recommend our club members to do the same when venturing out on their own. As a club, we no longer approve of riding this trail.

Cheers,
HCCC Executive Team
