Cenotes are sinkholes formed by the collapse of limestones exposing underground water. They are usually associated with the Yucatán peninsular in Mexico and according to my tour guide, there are about 10,000 of them scattered all around the region. I originally planned to take a plunge in the one we visited until he said it was 45 meters deep 😳😳😳. And you’ll be swimming at your risk 😰😰😰. Instead I found solace in watching others cool off.
