Did you know that between March 20th and March 21st, Chichen Itza is visited by thousands of tourists from all over the world? 😱😱😱

This happens because of the famous Equinox phenomenon, when the day has the same duration as the night, the sun of the late afternoon creates the illusion of a snake creeping slowly down the northern staircase. The equinox was very important to the Mayan civilizations as it marked the beginning of their planting season. While preparing to build the Temple of Kukulkan, they tracked the movement of the sun.
