Hello all! Such a long time since last contact but as we turn the corner to 2023 we are back on track. Things have changed so much since we started this project and want to share some photos of how the farm side of things are shaping up. Heirloom tomatoes, varieties of bananas, yucca, papaya, fig, pandan and ducks have joined the mix of items grown along with the existing citrus farm.

Panama is amazing and this part in the Azuero is especially great. Whether looking to visit or consider a move, come visit us!

The location of the Azuero peninsula couldn’t be better. With a 360 degree view of forest, farm and sea, Casa de la Huerta is located just outside the town of Cañas on the Pacific coast of Panama. Stay where the neighbors set out their milk cans in the morning and cowboys move their cattle out to pasture. Sea kayak down the road at Isla Cañas or take a trek up in the hills where the monkeys laze about. Eat a top class meal and share a drink over at Playa Venao or head out for surf at Cambutal. Cañas is in the heart of it all and where you can enjoy it all.

The citrus orchard was planted in 2018 along with other native fruit trees such as mango, soursop, custard apples, papaya and avocado to help reforest the property that was used for cattle grazing for decades. From the start we knew that we wanted to integrate with the local community and continue with the way of life that endeared us to the region so many years ago. Working with the local population, we gain better understanding of the land and how to care for it the best way possible.
