You’ve certainly heard of Lake Como - but have you heard of Lake Garda?
This destination is an amazing counterpart to Lake Como, with spectacular scenery, charming towns and villages, luxury hotels, and more - Lake Garda truly has it all (without that Lake Como price tag!) Lake Garda also has a large emphasis on relaxation and wellness - the perfect place to unwind.
Here are some of our favorite things to do in Lake Garda:
1. Sirmione: Explore the picturesque peninsula town of Sirmione, famous for its thermal baths, medieval castle, and narrow cobblestone streets. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Scaligero Castle, a 13th-century fortress with panoramic views of the lake.
2. Watersports: Lake Garda is a paradise for watersports enthusiasts. Try your hand at windsurfing, sailing, kiteboarding, or kayaking in the clear blue waters of the lake. There are plenty of rental shops and schools along the shoreline where you can learn or perfect your skills.
3. Gardaland: For family-friendly fun, head to Gardaland, Italy’s largest amusement park, located on the southeastern shore of Lake Garda. With thrilling rides, entertaining shows, and themed areas, it’s a perfect day out for both kids and adults alike.
4. Scenic Boat Tours: Take a leisurely boat tour of Lake Garda to admire its stunning scenery from the water. Many companies offer guided tours that take you to hidden coves, picturesque villages, and historic landmarks around the lake.
5. Limone sul Garda: Visit the charming town of Limone sul Garda, famous for its lemon groves and colorful waterfront. Explore the narrow streets lined with shops, cafes, and gelaterias, and don’t forget to try the local specialty, limoncello.
6. Historic Villas and Gardens: Discover the rich history and elegant architecture of Lake Garda by visiting its historic villas and gardens. Villa Monastero in Varenna and Villa del Balbianello in Lenno are particularly noteworthy for their beautiful gardens and panoramic views.
