This is the BSL sign for “pain” and I’m really sad to say that I’m in a lot at the moment. I need an urgent operation on my back and this regrettably means my classes are going to have to be put on the back burner (no pun intended!) for the time being.

I’m so very sad as I was and am really excited about getting Sign Stars back up and running. Unfortunately there’s literally nothing I can do but wait for the dates and recovery period. Once I know more I will be straight back (ha!) to it and raring to go!

Thanks so much for all your support in the meantime, I really can’t wait until it’s all systems go.

Have you heard? The Sign Stars Academy is back! Come along and learn how to communicate with your little one and understand what they want and need by using British Sign Language ✋🤚

Meet new people and make friends whilst you’re at it, at our fun, immersive and interactive sessions. Earn prizes with our Shining Stars token rewards programme whilst gaining skills that could help ease the frustration of not knowing what your little one is thinking 💭

We’ll learn using signed songs, games, sensory tools along with lots and lots of toys and props (including bubbles! Who doesn’t like bubbles?!) 🫧 🧸

Each week we’ll focus on a different topic whilst covering the basics in each session to ensure we always have those key signs needed to continue enhanced communication. You’ll have access to a copy of the signs and songs used each week to help aid your learning at home to enable you to continue your signing journey, even after the class is over 📝

Roll up, roll up! GREAT NEWS 🗞️

Sign Stars is coming back to Chellaston 🎉

I will be starting classes at the Chellaston Community Academy here on Thursdays after the February half term and am reaching out to you for the best time. 10am or 10:30am? What’s more convenient for you? 🕰️

I previously ran a class in this lovely space and I cannot wait to get back. The hall has baby changing facilities, is all on one level and has a car park. What could be better? The room itself is perfect for all our signing needs 🏠

I am so excited about the opportunity to bring the Sign Stars Academy back to Chellaston. Details on what happens at the Academy, pricing and how to book will all be available really soon ✋🤚✨

HELLO 👋🏻 And welcome (back, if you’re a long time follower of Sign Stars) 💕

Hopefully you’ll be happy to hear that the Sign Stars Academy is going to be back really soon ⏰

Things got a little tricky over the last few years and sadly I wasn’t able to run any classes at all for quite some time, which meant I took up a “normal” job, which for me was an Activities Coordinator at a local retirement village 🏡

What this gave me - along with the sanity of being out of the house - was the opportunity to continue my signing as I was able to teach the residents sign language as part of this role ✋🏻🤚🏻

And this in turn has kept my sign language light burning and the Academy has always been something I wanted to rekindle once the world began spinning again 🌎 I’m hoping to kick it off with both baby AND toddler classes on the menu 👶🏻 🧒👧

So really, this is a “hi, how are you?” and a “watch this space” for info over the coming weeks. If there are any areas in Derby you’d really like to see a class come to, please comment or drop me a line in the meantime 📧
