I recently went to the ATM here in Antigua, withdrew the maximum amount to pay bills with, and while it charged my card, I didn't receive the money. I'm now locked in a vicious cycle between my bank and the bank here, which is known for having this happen and then repeatedly lying and saying people got their money. People on the Antigua page have told me that it will take 6-9 months to get my money back.
This is a reminder of how these things happen overseas, and you should always ensure you have extra funds- I'm out almost $500 which I may or may not get back. Reading multiple threads, forums and articles online about the ATMs have reinforced how prevalent fraud and card skimming is here (and around the world) as well, so be sure to watch this video to see exactly what an ATM skimmer looks like (if you're ever unsure, give it a good tug).
