I was bent over weeding at Moon Dance Shed and when I looked up this doe was looking at me with great curiosity. I think she was wondering why I was wasting my time eating weeds when there was a delicious rose to be enjoyed just like the one she had been munching on!
She concluded after a short conversation, one sided I might add, that people are weird.....and left!

Stanley Park Rose!
Decades ago, Alleyne Cook and Gerard Picher, two renowned gardeners of Stanley Park, took cuttings of one of the first roses planted in the Rose Garden. One of these cuttings made it into the Picher garden while Kathleen and he were still together. After Gerard's death from cancer, Kathleen and I decided to start some more cuttings and plant them up at Moon Dance.
Given it is an old heritage rose, it has a wonderful scent and a robust climbing branch structure.
This one has dozens of buds this year and next week I will take a photo at it's peak bloom!

While finishing the structural design of The Shed, the engineer and I sipped some fine scotch and contemplated some photos in Dwell Magazine. The outcome was the frivolous (and expensive!) decision to add 5 more poles to the two we needed.
A few more sips and we added some angles and slopes for eye candy. The bright yellow matches the doors and attracts hummingbirds and butterflies!
This will be our last build and and our future home so we wanted to reflect our joy and brighten the shed exterior.
Makes us smile every time we come down the walk!

Found this mid-century beauty in Habitat in Sechelt BC. I was sitting in it, to hold it, while Kathleen rushed to pay for it before someone else could and my phone rang. It was my brother calling and suggesting I race for Winnipeg as my Mother was about to die! Booked a flight for myself and my daughters from the chair, dropped it in The Shed at Moon Dance, raced for the ferry and YVR and made my flight to say goodbye to Momma!
This will always be Grandma's Chair!
