Wheatley Creative Graphic Designer I am currently a student at Northern Illinois University studying Visual Communications. I am genuinely passionate about the work that I do.

I’ve spent countless hours educating myself on design techniques; striving to perfect my design skill. My great grandfather had always had a passion for art. He was a painter and photographer. In fact, he passed this interest on to my grandfather who followed a career in graphic design and art direction. My grandfather had three sons, one who is now working in the field of marketing and advertisin

g, another who became a photographer, and lastly my dad– who also got his BFA in graphic design at Northern Illinois University. Years ago, I found a familiar interest in graphic design. By the time I was just seven years old, my dad had taught me how to use the adobe creative suite on our family's old Apple Macintosh computer. Since then, I knew that graphic design would always be a part of my life. In 2010, I found I had a trained eye for recognizing good design aesthetic and decided to start my own freelancing business. Over the next few years, I would gain experience through working with clients, musicians, and businesses in various countries around the world. As I graduate college and start my own professional career, I look forward to further developing my design knowlege and gaining additional knowledge in the field.

About

I am currently a Visual Communications major at Northern Illinois University. I am genuinely passionate about the work that I do and I’ve spent countless hours educating myself on new design techniques; striving to perfect my design aesthetic. Design has always been a huge part of my life. My great grandfather was a painter. His creative passion was passed down to my grandfather who had a career in graphic design and art directing. Lastly, my father is also an Northern Illinois University alumni, is currently a designer and art director as well.

Years ago, I found my own personal interest in graphic design. When I was in elementary school, my dad had taught me how to use the adobe creative suite on our family's old Apple Macintosh computer and ever since then, I knew that graphic design was what I wanted to study when I got to college.

In 2010, I found that I had a trained design aesthetic and decided to start my own freelancing business. Over the next few years, I would gain experience through working with clients, musicians, and businesses in various countries around the world. In the summer of 2017, I was hired as an intern at Rule29 Creative, Inc. and I have loved working alongside such a strong, talented team within the design industry. As I graduate college and start my own professional career, I look forward to further developing my design knowledge and gaining additional knowledge in the field.

Some of my capabilities beyond the creative suite include coding in various languages such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, and CPP, as well as knowledge in motion graphics, illustration, and strategic copywriting.
