We had a stall at Poundbury Christmas Market on Saturday. The feedback about Dad's jumpers was breath taking! Lots of people were very happy to find 100% woollen jumpers and lots of gifts were bought for friends and family.

The Story of Minnow Cottage
Minnow Cottage has a long history beginning, we think, around 1880. It started life as a humble farmers cottage; one of a row of three terraced cottages for farm labourers working for the sheep farm at the end of the road. Originally these cottages were two up, two downs (in fact one and a half up and down by today’s standards), meaning that they had a lounge/kitchen and a lean to larder downstairs and one and a half bedrooms upstairs. All three cottages shared a well, toilet, washroom, outhouse and vegetable garden. These have since been re-purposed and allocated to each cottage. Our kitchen and master bedroom used to be the shared outhouse. There are now three bedrooms, the first is a double, the second is a twin room and the third is a games snug which has a pull out bed for use with children or teens. You’ll be pleased to know that there is now an inside bathroom!
We purchased the cottage in 2012 as our main family home. We travel all over the world with our three children for work but always return to ‘Minnow Cottage’ and will always view it as home. We have begun the process of restoring it and will continue to do so as the years pass. We know from our neighbours that the original Purbeck Flagstone floor is underneath a layer of tar in the lounge; we mean to recover it when we can along with restoring the fireplace to include a more period stove.
We began letting the cottage in 2014, once we had retored it to a lettable standard. It was at this point that we chose the name. If you walk from the cottage towards the farm at the end of the road you will come to an old sheep ford known locally as ‘the water splash’. Here, in summer, you can have some fun fishing for minnows.
We have been sharing our home on Airbnb for almost 5 years and continue to work hard to maintain it as an affordable self catering let which is welcoming to families especially. We include a travel cot, high chair, plastic plates and cutlery and a ton of toys, games, books and DVD’s for guest use.
We have the most fabulous local house-keeper called Jayne. Without her, we would not have such a fab reputation. The majority of our reviews comment, among other things, on the cleanliness of the property and Jayne always goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that our guests have a good stay.
We take safety very seriously and have ensured that we have all the relevant fire alarms, carbon monoxide alarms and extinguishers in the house. You can access a full safety card along with our advice for keeping children safe in the house within our Airbnb profile.
We were awarded Superhost status by Airbnb in January 2017 and have been re-awarded that status every 6 months ever since.
