There's still time to book tickets for Bladnoch Distillery's Tasting Notes event which will run 27th-29th September at the distillery.

You can expect an immersive theatre experience which brings over two centuries of whisky-making history to life on the banks of the River Bladnoch, transporting guests back in time to be met by some of the most notable characters from bygone days at the distillery.

Guests are invited to have a dram and a dance during this 3-hour experience, not to be missed. The theatre performance will be approximately 2 hours, with drams and local produce sharing platters included in the ticket price. Guests are then welcome to stay for an additional hour, where there will be a live music Ceilidh, plus a Bladnoch bar available to purchase further refreshments and snacks.

Our Discovering Islay Tour 2 incorporates the Kilchoman, Bruichladdich, Bowmore, Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Port Ellen and Ardbeg distilleries.

https://www.distillerytours.scot/itineraries/discovering-islay-tour-2

Known as the ‘Queen of the Hebrides’ for good reason, this stunning island is the fifth-largest in Scotland and the eighth-largest in the British Isles. Despite these stats, it is still a relatively small space to be home to so many distilleries making it a great location for a whisky holiday where you can sample island life and the characteristically peaty single malts on offer here.

The ruins of Dunyvaig Castle (pictured) are located near Port Ellen, on the shore of Lagavulin Bay. Once a coastal defence for the chiefs of Clan MacDonald, who held the title of Lord of the Isles. Built upon a pre-historic fort, the surviving remains date from the 13th to 16th century. This is a great place to visit for wonderful views across the bay and of Lagavulin Distillery.

If nature's more your thing than history, take some time to visit the RSPB Loch Gruinart Nature Reserve - one of the top wildlife sites in Scotland. An extraordinary range of Hebridean birds and other wildlife are available to view, including thousands of white-fronted and barnacle geese arriving from Greenland in autumn.

Coaltown of Wemyss is a mining village situated near Wemyss Castle, the ancestral home of the Wemyss family, who have deep roots in Fife and a long-standing connection to whisky. Our Wolfburn & Orkney will see you visit the most northern parts of Scotland and incorporates the Wolfburn, Scapa, 8 Doors, Old Pulteney and Highland Park distilleries.

https://www.distillerytours.scot/itineraries/wolfburn-and-orkney-tour

The Orkney Islands are 10 miles north of the coast of mainland Britain and comprise around 70 islands, of which 20 are permanently inhabited, and are well worth a visit in themselves.

A number of lucky Brits may have been treated to a Northern Lights display already this year, but heading north only increases the chance of seeing the magical phenomena (pictured) on a clear, dark night.

You could also spend some time investigating ancient history, with standing stones a plenty as well as the impressive Skara Brae - a Neolithic village and the best-preserved group of prehistoric houses in Western Europe, first uncovered by a storm in 1850.

Don't forget to check out NorthLink Ferries, who provide travel to both Orkney and Shetland and make for the perfect start to any island adventure. https://www.northlinkferries.co.uk
