Hearnapalooza Sea Kayaking Un-Festival Hearnapalooza is not a festival organized officially by any one person, persons, business or association. Hearnapalooza just happens. What is Hearnapalooza?

Dear dearest Nova Scotians,

It is that time of year again. The time of year when hurricanes come
and go, the sea temperature starts to drop, and those silly foreigners
pay lots of money to watch the leaves change colours. To celebrate
these annual events, Hearn Island hosts Hearnapalooza each
September. Hearnapalooza is many things. First of all, it is the day before
International Pirate Day. Se

condly, it is an evening where magic
happens: geeks and jocks, farmers and musicians, and locals and
Torontonians all come together. And last, and importantly, it is a
damn good way to celebrate a few birthdays. We try (try) to arrive at Hearn before sunset. Bring your own drink,
bring your own cup, bring your own food, and if you think of it, bring
some ice. Firewood, too, is a good thing to bring, as is a tent and
sleeping bag. This is far from an exclusive event, so if you know someone who can do
Hearnapalooza, bring 'em along. Environmental Plug: Hearn Island is a go-to spot for many of us, a
real gem amongst the Nova Scotia granite coastline. If you've been
there yet this year, you'll know she's looking a little bit littered. This year, let's bring some garbage bags with us. Location: Hearn Island Beach. There is no land access, no power and no services on the Island. Enroute Contact FMRS Channel 2.0. Please don't paddle to the Island alone after dark. If you will be attending Hearnapalooza please let us know. Limited travel options available. Event Cover Charge: Music, Food items, Firewood, island prep and cleanup, or caviar. Strict LNT : You are responsible for ethical custodial care of the Island. Garbage In = Garbage Out. This is a great way to celebrate kayaking, friendships, music and nature - along with a few birthdays!

The details are the same as every year. The 7th Annual Hearnapalooza will be held at the beach on the leeward side of Hearn Island. 44°28'2"N 63°45'53"W. Saturday September 26th 2015. There is no land access, no power and no services on the Island. Enroute Contact FMRS Channel 2.0. Please don't paddle to the Island alone after dark. If you will be attending Hearnapalooza please let us know. Limited travel options available through local outfitter. If you need to arrange transportation for musical instruments or heavy items please call Zita. Event Cover Charge: Music, Food items, Firewood, island prep and cleanup. Bring your own TP. Strict LNT : You are responsible for ethical custodial care of the Island. Garbage In = Garbage Out. The campfire is a buffet and everyone is encouraged to bring their best camping cookery to share with the group!

If anyone from the Lower Prospect area is planning on being at Hearnapalooza and getting there with their own boat (sailboat, hinkley, fishing boat, zodiak, .. ) AND have room to ferry people feel free to post info. Getting to Hearn is pretty darn hard paddlin' for folks without a kayak! Everyone else, you know the drill, contact Zita for big floating buckets, slabs of foam, magic carpets, astral projection, and other means of getting to the island.

New at Hearnapalooza. It is worth mentioning here that the only whale type consumed in Iceland is minke whale. Whale meat can both be eaten raw or cooked. If you cook it, you need to make sure it isn't cooked too much because then it becomes dry. Whale meat is red meat, similar to beef. It's delicious raw, eaten like a sushi with wasabi and soy sauce - but equally good when cooked rare and served with all the trimmings you'd normally have with a steak. In many cultures fermented whale meat is considered a delicacy. Yummy.

Happy hearnapoloza week! Do you need a kayak for Saturday. I gotta know. Please let me know what I'm working with. It's a good busy day at Eco Sunday so if you get a boat from us it may need to be back around 11 or 12. - Adam

I do know ppl with boats so maybe we can work something out. That's right people I know, I just volunteered your boats
