Better safe than sorry.

Unfortunately, Lake Superior State Park in Bethel, operated by Sullivan County, will temporarily close for the July 4 weekend, starting the evening of Thursday, July 2, and running through the morning of Monday, July 6.

“Since the beach has not opened this season, we decided to take this action in order to minimize issues with crowds and revelers at the park for the Independence Day holiday,” Parks Director Brian Scardefield explains. “We’re sorry for any inconvenience, but during this unprecedented time, we’re choosing a prudent and cautious path.”

The parking lot, swimming beach, dock area, and boat launch will all be closed, with regular patrols to ensure compliance. The small parking, walking and picnic area near Lake Superior’s dam will remain open.

Lake Jeff Cottage is a vacation rental home located in the westernmost part of Sullivan County, in the beautiful Catskill Mountains and just 2.5 hours from NYC.

The westernmost part of Sullivan County offers Lakes, rivers and an abundance of outdoor, year-round activities due to its vast resources.

Unlike other, more secluded lakefront rentals in this area, Lake Jeff Cottage is situated within a town. That means no long drives for food, shops, and services, as our small town is conveniently located just one scenic mile down the creek from the cottage.

Lake Jeff is a small and private, non motorized creek fed lake. Lake Jeff is great for fishing, rowing and splashing around in the water with family and friends. Lake Jeff offers a quiet environment with few neighbors having access to our lake.
