Costa Rica also have manaatees?

Manatees in Costa Rica live in the Caribbean region, especially in the southern part of Gandoca and Barra del Colorado. They prefer areas with lots of seagrass and vegetation, such as Tortuguero National Park.

Sightings are pretty rare, and local residents believe that illegal hunting, toxicants in coastal waters, plastic ingestion, and increased boat traffic are contributing to their decline.

The russet-crowned motmot (Momotus mexicanus) is a socially monogamous bird found in Oaxaca, Mexico. During the breeding season, females and males pair up to care for the brood, and labor is equally divided between the mating pair.

Don't miss the opportunity to see this amazing bird with us in our Taste of Oaxaca Retreat!

🚨 Just 1 Spot Left!
Oaxaca, Mexico 🇲🇽
November 16 - 23, 2024

The trip begins in colonial Oaxaca City, one of Mexico’s culinary, artistic, and cultural epicenters. There, we will participate in a number of cultural activities, such as walking through ancient Zapotec ruins, perusing local artisan markets, participating in our own artisan workshop, learning to cook delicious local fare, and sipping Oaxaca’s famous drink, Mezcal. Oh - and eating delicious food every step of the way.

Next, we will head into the Sierra Sur mountain range to San Jose del Pacifico, which sits at 8,000 feet above sea level — higher than the clouds themselves! There, we will spend a night and do some ecotourism and cultural activities such as zip-lining, hanging bridges, and a “temazcal” ceremony (a typical sweat lodge of the region). And, of course, amazing fare.

Finally, we will head down to the fabled and beautiful Oaxacan coast, to the “Pueblo Mágico” of Mazunte, where we will spend our time hiking, watching the sunsets from the beach, snorkeling, and witnessing the prolific sea life of the area. The trip will end with some free time to explore however your little heart would enjoy. Don’t forget the mouth-watering coastal cuisine!

Save your spot with a $500 deposit.

🦋 Did you know?

In Costa Rica, the stunning Blue Morpho butterfly isn't actually blue!

Its wings reflect light in a way that makes them appear blue to our eyes, but they're actually brown. This optical illusion, known as structural coloration, helps them evade predators.

Howler monkeys are considered one of the loudest land animals on Earth. Their calls can reach up to 140 decibels and can be heard up to 3 miles away through dense rainforest. This impressive vocal ability is due to their enlarged hyoid bone, which acts as a resonating chamber to amplify their calls.

Costa Rica is home to two species of howler monkeys - the mantled howler (Alouatta palliata) and the Guatemalan black howler (Alouatta pigra).

Collared Aracaris are said to have a sinister appearance but they are far from evil! These birds are sweet and friendly; although they sometimes eat fledging birds, insects, and small reptiles, their diet consists mostly of fruits. Aracaris are social and they are found in small flocks.

They live in humid rainforests and woody lowland forests from sea level to 1,500 meters in elevation, from southern Mexico to Colombia and parts of Venezuela. They travel through Central America yearly.

Their tails are pointier than toucans, which is why they are considered toucanets.
